British Comedy Guide

Critique Recommendations. Page 4

I only occasionally dip into Critique nowadays, but La Bussell's stuff consistently floats my little pink skinboat, and James Harris is a quiet genius. And yes, Sooty has made me laugh many times.

'Mr Bump' is third track down in the list.

Dan

That's a top notch sketch and way better than my similar attempt which involved Mr Bump being fisted by Mr Tickle

Critique has so many good writers some of which don't actually post anymore, Nigel used to poist a bit but haven't seen some of his stuff in ages!

Ben / Leevil / Bussells works out as my top (had a comedy crush when Ben was still winterlight.

Oh and for anyones amusement here is the first ever sketch posted on the critique part of the forum - everyone writes more than 2 lines!

Thanks Sooty. I must admit I don't recall your sketch, but I'm pretty sure I would have remembered that one...

EDIT: Searching for 'bump tickle fist' yields no results unless you type it into the wrong search bar.

You've hit the nail on the head.

I've been doing a lot of reflecting recently, mainly because of my new job at the house of mirrors. But also after being contacted by a producer and being ill-prepared to send any examples of my work, it made me realise I need to put up or shut up. I'm done with random midnight sketches, I have to promise myself this. It's doing no good for my writers rep, which I'd like to be known as a producer of quality sketches and material. I annoy myself, I hate to think how much I annoy my readers/audience.

Thanks for the honesty, David.

Any time, Leevil, you can obviously do the funny, and that's what's important.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to head downtown to teach some inner city kids the difference between right and wrong. Bussell away!

Laughing out loud

(Jesus! I just pray it's not a practical.)

I've had a little look in the recent archives, at a few of the sketches posted before I joined.

I like this topical one. https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/9737

Has this one already been mentioned? https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/4588

Woooah Dude

It's like looking into a mirror with one behind you!! Tripsville!

I thought this was a (nigh on) perfect topical skit.

(Newsjack, apparently, didn't agree with that assessment.)

There is this thread - Best of 2007 competition In which the Bussell won.

I searched for the phrase "my favourite" and found this in the results - https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/868 - my critique of it, still stands.

Did they have a best of 2008 competition?

Don't think so?

I liked Lee Henman's 'Brian Blessed' sketch. It was quite sublime.

I've always had a soft spot for David Bussell's 'Forget Paris' sketch as well.

Swertyd and Afinkawan's sketches are consistently funny too.
