Investigation.

MRS PETTIGREW IS TALKING TO CHARMAINE (A SOCIAL WORKER)

PETTIGREW
How did the inspection go? We're very proud of the care provided at Leafy Acres.

CHARMAINE
Mrs Pettigrew some of your clients have been forced to move from their rooms, been denied care and forced to live underground.

PETTIGREW
Forced to live underground? Who on are you talking about?

CHARMAINE
Arthur Pilchard, Muriel Grimes, Jennifer Smythe and more.

PETTIGREW
I'm sorry Mrs Jones there's been a mix up with your records all those people died.

CHARMAINE
So what?

PETTIGREW
I beg your pardon they died we arranged funerals for them. The mayor spoke at Arthur's funeral, he was a war hero.

CHARMAINE
So that's it I die and all my rights just disappear? Just because I'm dead I cease to be a person?

PETTTIGREW
Well frankly yes. I must say that this seems to be in extremely poor taste.

CHARMAINE
Poor taste? Poor taste? Mrs Pettigrew lets replace the word dead with Muslim or gay.
Arthur became Muslim and we buried him underground, Muriel became a lesbian we stopped visiting her or feeding her and put her in a box.

PETTIGREW
But Mrs Jones life ends it's part of the circle of life, we can't just leave dead clients decaying in their bedrooms. The smell...

CHARMAINE
Oh now you're calling them smelly! One of them was a war hero, I'm sorry Mrs Pettigrew you are a bigot.

PETTIGREW
You're a loony is there anything sensible in this investigation?

CHARMAINE
Oh we're not even half finished. I want to know why one of your residents has been forced to use a box as a toilet, castrated and reduced to eating rodents?

PETTIGREW
That's Jeffrey the cat.

CHARMAINE
Cats, dead people are there no ends to your prejudice?

PETTIGREW
I'm an anti-Semite, is that alright? I just think the Jews run all the media and the banks.

CHARMAINE
Oh that's fine.

Funny, I liked it; though those last couple of lines need a tweak.

Thanks, I know I'm trying to think how to tweak those lines.

PETTIGREW
That's Jeffrey the cat.

Can the sketch not finish here?

Good point and I think it shall.

How about ending on, this and then:

CHARMAINE
Is there no end to your prejudice?
