John Hughes RIP Page 9

Are you two going to row again? It's what John Hughes would have wanted on his BCG memorial thread.

So?

I was watching John Hughes films when they were originally released, so I think I can comment to some extent that not everyone found them terrible and uncool. :D

Oh, and National Lampoon's Vacation, which he also wrote and directed, was genuinely funny. The only one of the Vacation series which was. And the last time Chevy Chase ever made me laugh.

What ever happened to that guy?

Look my hair was this big in the 80s.

meaning I was the coolest, okay? Laughing out loud

I suspect Dolly was there drinking cider, shop lifting tapes from Ourprice and stealing all the nerds 10 sided dice.

I knew you right? :)

Yes I want my 10 sided dice back!

Big hair was cool in the 80s, are you senile?

It's one of those weirdly, utterly stupid and completely charmless films.

I keep trying to watch because I think it'll have a cooky charm and well, it just doesn't. It's awful soul less and so stupid.

:(
Your, mum's... stupid.
Or something along those lines.

Laughing out loud

I like Stuart Maconie. And Mark Radcliffe.

Stuart Maconie doesn't half play some mental stuff on his Freak Zone radio show. "And now thirty-five minutes of prog rock from a band who only ever made one demo back in 1972."

I've always been a big fan of both too. On radio, when it comes to choosing music though, they do adhere to the John Peel philosophy of playing bands who are obscure even to the band members' own mothers.

80s*

You've made me so mad, Miss Dagger!!!!

But I am not going to continue this argument. I shall take the moral high ground on this one. Pleased

Oh.

Great minds... and us! :)

I don't understand the line - so if that was the best line it must've been quite a crap film.

The line has no context. If you're bothered about forming an opinion of his films then watch them, if not, don't.

Why do people get sniffy about 80's feel good films like John Hughes'? Film watching shouldn't be about upholding an image 'oh we're the cool kids we don't watch ... films'. I think these films in particular separate those who are a bit on the pretentious side from those who watch things with an open mind. Or maybe not. Just don't hit the face.

:)

Does that mean I win?

I do, don't I?

In twenty years time are you going to say you love High School Musical or 17 Again?
