I have to admit that I've got no idea who you're talking about or any of the films you mention.
I guess they are films! Although of course Pretty in Pink was originally a record by the Psychedelic Furs.

My name is JuliaC and I love cheesy 80s films.
There...no shame.
And not a particularly good one.

I don't believe for one second that you have never heard of Home Alone.
Quote: Tim Walker @ August 6 2009, 10:59 PM BSTI identified with the Anthony Michael Hall character in The Breakfast Club, so I guess I would have been laughed at by you and all your cool friends, Dolly.
(Ever seen Heathers, dear?)
No, I tend to avoid American teen movies. As Morrisey said "they mean nothing to me and my life."
We were cool in the real outsider sense.
(i.e we were freaks picked on by 'casuals' who liked american teen movies) get that.
Quote: Dolly Dagger @ August 6 2009, 10:37 PM BSTBreakfast Club and Pretty in Pink were awful. They were awful at the time and they still are.
How does it feel to be the most profoundly wrong person on the planet at the moment?
Pretty in Pink is ace and Breakfast Club was on Sky the other night and I ended up watching it end to end. It's just ace and Molly Ringwald was wonderful.
Whatever next you were bored by Raiders of the Lost Ark? Enjoyed The Event?
N.B. Heathers was perhaps the best of that genre.

Seriously, they were not seen as good films at the time by the people they were aimed at - i.e females of my age. They were sad, corny cheese-fests. Sorry to everyone who identifies with them but honestly, they were not representative of their era.
Well, we who are able to watch them objectively, love them.
Hee.
Heathers is fantastic. I really do adore 1980s films. *swoon*
Hey! Some of us round here were teens in the 80s too.
They were aimed at both genders and I along with many of my generation loved them. They were funny, cool, had amazing soundtracks and just alround ace. Except for 16 candles which was just creepy.
Pah typical girls thinking it's all about them.

But boys are always more immature.
(and I'm older)

I'm older too and if there's one thing that his films were more than anything else it is representative of their time.

Are not!

Insulting an entire gender? Alas that sounds like the sound of a French bugle which can only play "retreat!"
I mean what films were you watching at the time?

Was that his?
I've seen bits of it at Christmas.
