But wouldn't want to own one. And could never "love" guns, was my point. Or love anyone who did.

Saying that people who shoot clay pigeons are wannabe murderers is like saying people who play darts are wannabe eye-poker-outers.

"he does strike me as a man who would absolutely love to shoot a real live human being dead."
I assumed you said that because he seems to enjoy his hobby, not because you're forensically trained to identify potential murderers from YouTube videos.
Yes, of course I was suggesting this man was a potential murderer...
*giggles*

People who want to kill themselves will always find a way to kill themselves. People who want to kill someone else will always find a way to do it.
I've been to the UK 3 times and each time I found my train/tube delayed because someone had jumped in front of it. In the U.S. they'd just blow their brains out in the bathtub and transportation wouldn't be impeded. I think someone on the BCG mentioned that the sale of paracetamol was restricted because of suicides by overdose? Not necessary here but, as I said, people will always find a way to carry out their plans.
There is absolutely no correlation between murder and violent crime and someone's enjoyment of a hobby like target shooting. But there is a correlation between certain lifestyles (drug dealers and users, gang members and criminals) and murder and gun crimes.
There is a pretty strong correlation between death by shooting and possession of a gun, though.
A Zogby/O'Leary Poll which was released today:
An overwhelming majority of Americans (83 percent) support concealed-carry laws, while only 11 percent oppose them. A majority of Independent voters (86 percent), Democrats (80 percent), young voters age 18-29 (83 percent), Hispanic voters (80 percent), and those who voted for President Obama (80 percent) support the right to carry a firearm.

That Jeff Brazier on TV really gives me the creeps. I'm sure there's a story waiting to come out.
