No, it wasn't Thomas on the plinth, but a member of his group. He was on the ground with other members of his group.
Mark Thomas has been doing similar stuff long before the 'plinth'. Since Parliament outlawed protests outside Parliament, Mark has used comedy to challenge the Right Honourable Scrotes. For example, successfully applying to the Met police for a 'license' to protest near Parliament. When asked to state the nature of his protest he said 'We're protesting against surrealism'. The family of Salvador Dali were invited but, unable to attend, they sent a shoe instead. It didn't make the Nine O'Clock News though.
What can I say about Mark Thomas that hasn't already been said? Oh I know, irritating c**t wart. Britain's answer to Michael Moore likes to 'cherry pick' the most right on, trendy leftie, Socialist Worker topics which all the bespectacled homosexuals at Channel 4 like to spunk over.
We have a massive crisis in Afghanistan over troop numbers and equipment. Will Mark Thomas go on a crusade to find out why we don't have enough helicopters or adequate body armour? I some how doubt it.
I could forgive all of his so called 'do gooding' if he was actually funny or witty in any way. But instead, all we're given is a substandard stand up mixed with a substandard Roger Cook who operates under the miguided apprehension that he's still in college circa 1983.
He am a twat.
Will he point out that it was a lousily planned war that brought the Taleban back from the dead and is costing the lives of soldiers for sweet FA. Will he point out that part of the reason our soldiers have such duff equipment is our government keeps underwriting inept UK arms manufacturers.
The US offered to sell Blackhawks to the UK 2 years ago, we said no so we could build Merlins. Which may be in working order for infantry operations in maybe 5 years.
Oh and he's lot funnier than Jim Davidson.
That elected arse nugget of an Afghani president is already trying to bring warlords (read Taliban) into the bloody government and we haven't even left the country.
I was once molested by a radical red. Once molested, twice shy - that's what I say. Hang the bastards.
Totally agree with you sootyj. (except Mark Thomas being funnier then Jim Davidson - that's a bit like saying cancer is funnier then Aids).
Should the Taliban and Al Queda be wiped out? Yes. Should there be Western troops in Afghanistan. Yes. Should there be Western troops in Pakistan? Yes. And that's my liberal answer.
Personally speaking, I think they should just nuke the entire Middle East until it's no more then a pile of radioactive sand - including Israel.
I think you'd do better sticking to your funny posts RC.

It's difficult to be funny in relation to Mark Thomas. See Mark Thomas for proof.
His Sex, Filth & Religion pure standup video is very funny. I like the stuff he does now but wish he'd do 'straight' standup again.

Well there's a slight problem with fallout, not to mention most of the countries bought "misplaced" nukes from the Ruskies in the 90s. US/UK troops in Pakistan would mean 3 things.
1 A war that would make Vietnam look like a wet fart.
2 Al Quaeda get most of Pakistans nukes and the international aproval to use them.
3 The technology for building them goes to Iran/North Korea/Syria.
Wars and conflicts can be ended by negotiation it just needs leaders to grow up and put their dicks away.
Oh and the 2003 AL Quaeda are dead run away in prison. This is a fresh lot from 1916 Dublin to 1982 Lebanon you can't kill people's anger.
The problem is sootyj, is that if we pull out the troops and leave them alone, they will not leave us alone. Violent nutters with an agenda are part and parcel of our civilisation. When we effectively crush the more organised groups, then they become isolated and less threatening - such as the odd White Supremesist, Cornish Liberation Front, etc.
The IRA were forced to the negotiating table at gun point, they were on the brink of losing their entire organisation and so had to make peace.
If there is even the slightest possibility that Al Quaeda could get there hands on Pakitstani nukes, then that's all the incentive we need to wipe them out for good.
An internal investigation by the British Army would seem to disagree with you on the IRA. Certainly over a 100 years of violence could have been avoided if the violence in 1916 wasn't so heavy handed. Al Quaeda should have been confronted in 2003 and they were, succesfully. Having a second pop in 2007 onwards was just foolish and hasn't achieved anything. Right now they're based in Somalia and Pakistan Afghanistan is just an excuse for them to murder others and martyr themselves.
This thread is about Mark Thomas, not the war. Move along please.
Who made you a moderator? Mark Thomas? Betcha like that...bitch.
