So you get one of the extension things.

Sure, but Dolly spoke about letting them roam the garden. She didn't say she wanted to spend a fortune on a trendy little prison.

However, foxproof galvanised mesh can be bought pretty cheaply, and it only takes a little acumen to work out how to fabricate all sorts of versatile enclosures.

My friend built a luxury condo for his chickens.

Wowww.

(Sorry, Aaron.)

Looks quite fun. As long as zooo knows that she's paying.

I guess I can spring for some wood and a couple of nails.

I've got something a bit like that for the guinea pigs.

The weather hasn't been good, but we picked a few spring onions & a couple of the tomatoes are going red.

And the Sunflowers have started opening, and we had a nice sunset tonight.

Nice one, Fred :D

I can't believe I didn't plant Sunflowers yet. Will do that tomorrow.

Nice sunset pics Fred. :)

Nice view, Fred, is that Camden?

Dagenham.
But we do live opposite a park, so the sunsets are nice.

Carpark?

I'll get my coat or nick someone elses...

I don't grow any fruit or veg now.

There's many neighbours selling their produce at their gate very cheaply, I just buy theirs. I also "sample" crops of local organic farms.

Still got my chickens though. And have my regular bonfires to provide ash potting compost for Mrs Mutton's flowers.

My Dad grew all sorts of fruit and veg and we kept chickens. I used to love helping him pickle onions, pod peas and lay out apples for winter, I didn't mind killing, plucking and gutting chickens but I was scared of the rats in the chicken coup and I don't think I could prepare a chicken now.

We have just had our first tomatoes and courgettes. Marrows were eaten by slugs, raspberries (about 6) and cucumbers ok but gooseberries attacked by bugs.

If you are thinking of getting chickens think about what you will do with the eggs before you get them. Many of my friends have chickens and can't give the eggs away as they have so many.
