Yeah, they turned out great this year.
Love jalapenos, and peppers.
Things that are still growing in my garden:
Tomatoes (Beefsteak, heirloom, cherry and Roma. The Romas are the most robust.)
Peppers (Jalapenos, green bell, Anaheim chilies)
Strawberries
Zucchini
Herbs (Basil, chives, parsley, rosemary, sage)
Lettuce (Bibb)
Things killed by the 100-degree temperatures and drought, despite watering:
Sweet corn
Sugar snap peas
Onions
Spinach
Cilantro
Watermelon
Cantaloupe
Cucumbers

I accidentally dropped some cucumber seeds over the edge of our deck last summer and I now have cucumbers growing under the deck. Sorry about the casualties, especially the sugar snaps. my kids eat those right out of my gran's garden.

My friend is a slob who used to throw stuff like cigarette butts and bottle caps over the fence on his patio into the no man's land between 2 apartment buildings. One day I watched him pitch half a turkey and tomato sandwich over the fence. A few months later I peered over the fence and saw a large tomato plant flourishing in the alley.
My friend periodically peeked over the fence in search of the cigarette and beer trees which never sprouted, much to his chagrin.
And no one's said 'my cock' yet. Shame on all of you!

I've been debating getting chickens but not sure it would be fair on the neighbours. Living in London and having to provide enough garden space for the pets and the toys, means I don't have enough room for a proper vegetable plot.
I nearly got a couple of goats when we lived in the country and had about an acre garden and I used to think about having a small holding somewhere, but whilst I love getting the wellies on sometimes I also need to wear heels and pencil skirts and have shops nearby.
My idea of a productive garden would be to astro-turf the f**king lot, sit down have a beer and watch the sparrows smacking their beaks as they searched for worms.

They make some noise, but no more than a seagull. And less than a dog.
I've got four, which is too many really. Anyone want some free eggs?
Also, tatoes, toms, sweetcorn, lettuce, rocket, broccoli, chilis, pumpkin, strawberries, 3 kinds of apple, plums, rosemary, thyme, chives, bay, basil, sunflowers...
A lot of it is in containers on the patio.

Are you allowed to have chickens? They'd be against the rules in most neighborhoods in the States. Probably OK in the very rural areas, but not in the cities and suburbs.
