EXT. PARK.
RON sits on the bench, eating a sandwich. Another man, Phil. Takes a seat next to him.
PHIL [thinking out loud]
Oh, it's a nice day today. Nicey-nice day, today.
Ron continues to eat his sandwich.
PHIL
The sun is shining, the sky is blue. Yep, lovely day.
Ron picks up his newspaper, trying to avoid conversation.
Phil takes a deep breath in.
PHIL
Ah, smell that warm summer air.
Ron eats his sandwich with a quicker pace, but then chokes slightly.
PHIL [to Ron]
Oh, hello there!
RON [Clears throat]
Hi.
PHIL
Isn't it a lovely day?
RON [Politely]
Er, Yes.
PHIL
Ah, I love today.
Ron grunts in agreement.
PHIL
It's certainly better then yesterday. And that was a great day!
Ron nods.
PHIL
I literally can't imagine what tomorrow will be like.
RON
I think they said it's going to rain?
Phil's face drops.
PHIL
It can't!
RON
Yeah. They said, a high chance of rain.
PHIL
I don't believe it.
RON
Probably not. They often get it wrong.
PHIL
Yes, yes.
A breeze blows.
RON
It's getting a bit chilly.
PHIL
No it's not!
Ron rubs his hands together to warm up.
PHIL
Stop it.
RON
Ok, nice talking to you.
Ron goes to get up but is pushed back down by Phil.
PHIL
Nope!
RON
What are you doing?
PHIL
You will appreciate this day with me.
RON
Look, mate. I have to go.
PHIL
Just... just smell the grass.
RON
I haven't got time for this.
PHIL
Smell it!
Ron reaches down the side of the bench and rips off some grass and sniffs it.
RON
Mmm.
Ron jumps up.
PHIL
Take a deep breath!
Ron edges away.
PHIL
Take it!
Ron does.
PHIL
Now, let me buy you an ice cream.
RON
No, it's alright. Thanks, I've gotta go.
Phil leaps up.
PHIL
Let me buy you an ice cream.
RON
No, thank you.
Phil and Ron face off.
PHIL
Choc ice?
RON
No, I'm off.
Ron walks off, but is slowly followed by Phil. It turns into a chase.
PHIL (shouting)
An ice pole, at least?
They chase further.
RON [shouting back]
No!
They continue to chase.
