The Gooderer Life Thread

Not the TV show.

Who else tries to live The Good Life? Anyone grow their own veg, raise their own live stock? I know DaButt is a fellow enthusiast and I'm hoping Dolly is too. Marc P has some nice plums (tomato) also.

I even live next door to Penelope Keith. I don't but that would be fun. :)

I've been a gardener since I left school. But surprisingly, back breaking labour hasn't been as fun as I find doing my own garden. I get to plant lots of fruit and vegetables and then eat them all and I love eating, as well you know.

Even though I have more things growing this year, then ever. I was a little late planting stuff, so it's all a bit crazy at the moment. But I'm loving it and in about a month or two, I'll have a wealth of different foods from potatoes to strawberries and apples.

Anyone else into this? And what are you growing? :D

I dream about f**king a young Felicity Kendall whilst wearing Tom Goode's pullover and whistling that little tune he does. Is that near enough? I don't wash my duvet cover to reduce river pollution.

I would love to have a garden but I live in a flat in London... so don't have one. However, I help my Granny and Grandad in their garden when I visit which is satisfactory.

I have a chili plant in my kitchen window but that's about it.

The last person who lived here planted loads of paving stones out the back and now they're rampant, you can hardly see the floor. I've planted a few shrubs and that where I could though, trying to attract some wildlife so it's not all bad.

This was my first attempt at gardening, so there was a heavy outlay of money for tools and supplies. I reckon I've paid nearly a thousand dollars for about 20 pounds of tomatoes, peppers and herbs up to this point.

The drought is making my endeavors even more expensive. My water bill last month was $155. Some of that was used to keep my lawn from dying, but much of it went to the garden. I'll try it again next year and pray for rain, but if the drought returns I'll be turning my vegetable plot into a rock garden or build a shed on it the following year.

Laughing out loud

I don't do much gardening but do enjoy rummaging through a few ladies gardens ;)

I had some finger wagging eco-friends who bought a plot in Southern France to live the Good Life.
I know they're doing very well because they tell me so on one of their frequent trips back to Blighty via Easyjet.

I don't have a garden as the flat doesn't come with one. Even if I did, I would money on the fact that none of us would even touch it and it would become a kind of prehistoric park.

I would like to do some stuff one day.

I want to grow vegetables and have chickens. And possibly other things too.

I've grown carrots! They were yum.

My friend has goats in her garden.

No, I'm not kidding.

Aw!

*bleat*

Yep I'm a veggie grower too, not quite self sufficient yet!

Quite involved with the local allotment scene, committee meetings are a writer's dream!

When I'm not judging the 'rudest carrot' I'm digging for victory.

You should see my melons...

Still have to buy fish though.
