Sir Bobby Robson - RIP

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8177945.stm

True legend, great manager, football man and true gentleman. I'm absolute gutted, testimony to the man that he beat the disease 5 times, sadly it was going to finish him in the end, though.

Another sad day for Newcastle United and football in general.

Rest in peace, Sir Bobby. :(

Agreed.

Again, RIP Bobby.

Not much of a football fan but I always liked Robson. Seemed a genuinely decent cove. And you can't say that about many people involved with the beautiful game.

the beautiful game.

Tetris?

Well said!

He looked so frail in some TV appearances it seems amazing he made it this far.

I met him a few times. A brave, gentle and kind man. RIP. :(

Seemed that no-one had a bad word to say about Bobby. A proper gent and real football man, who never made a big thing of his long fight against cancer. Glad he went peacefully.

RIP.

RIP Sir Bobby. A news report earlier today made me well up a bit, it was so sad to see him looking so frail.

Tetris?

:D

I feel especially sad because it's another link with my past gone. I had the most amazing time in Greece during Italia '90 and he was also a dead ringer for my grandfather. Somehow it felt that despite Grandpop passing away in '99 he was still around if you get my meaning.

RIP Sir Bobby

RIP - a real Sir - whether he'd been knighted or not.

Ooh, you must tell me sometime.

Sad news indeed. A great contribution to football, a true ambassador for the sport and a deservedly well-respected individual. RIP Sir Bobby.

Have sent you an email Mr A

The difference with Sir Bobby was that all the people saying nice things about him on his death were also saying nice things about him when he was alive. RIP.

That's right. I still won't say nice things about Alex Ferguson.
