There is something to this. There are incredible double standards in comedy. It's still seriously uncool to tell a joke about a pakistani / black man or whatever. Ask any right-on comedian why, and he'll tell you it's because you're poking fun at people that have been persecuted / tortured / murdered etc and it's not fair. And then that same comedian will get up and tell a Maddie gag, which is apparently okay.

I'm not saying I approve of racist jokes - I don't - but the double standards annoys me.

Since this thread exists, and the premise of the OP's joke is what it is, can I ask: is it actually possible for an illegal immigrant or an asylym seeker to claim a giro?

I would assume not. I've only been living in the UK for 9 months in this decade.

I meant vampirisim as a disability. Can't go out in the day, addicted to blood, allergic to garlic and crucifixes. And all that vicious antivampire propagnda.

Buffy the vampire slayer? How about if it was Buffy the Asian murderer?

I believe they deserve social workers, day centers... well probably night centres.

Good point but for me it's a more subtle thing. Maddy jokes aren't to me funny, but the related issues such as newspaper hypocrisy are. I also can see how some people find a catharsis in joking about the unspeakable.

That said racist jokes are so old they just seem a bit past their prime. There are some decent ones out there but "immigrants are all dole scroungers." That's just insulting and would be the same about any group.

Like you wouldn't take handouts from a rich country if they offered it? I f**king would. This is what gets me about all this hatred toward immigrants and paranoid jealousy about how much dole money they're getting. If you're angry about the situation, complain to the government, not the immigrants! They're just taking what's rightfully theirs in the eyes of the law.

Of course it's the government but I still get angry when the tax on my poorly paid pension goes to support people that come here to take the piss and advantage

Also if it's rejected assylum seekers we're talking about...the government has some of the harshest anti immigrant policies in the world. They did what people seemed to want, it's just no one noticed.
