Anyone know who he is?
Is he an actor or an actual standup? Does he write his own material? Did he think doing these spots would further his comedy career? Is he contemplating suicide even now?

If I'm not mistaken, the phone company in question is running a competition to find new stand ups to fill this spot with better jokes. I think it was mentioned in one of the threads on BCG.

Oh wow - I genuinely thought he was just some annoying actor they'd hired to do the idents in the style of a "comedian".
Shit...bad career move there I think. His real standup act is actually okay.

Spencer Brown's stand-up is quite good (he had a stand-up show broadcast on BBC7 which was very entertaining).
This is not great though.
He was 'Max' in the radio version of Teenage Kicks (which was much better than the TV version)
