:D

I'm confounding their expectations. They think, "Look at that cocky bastard, openly talking on his mobile. It's almost like he wants us to mug him. I don't like it."

That might well work, you know. Myself and three six foot plus friends were once attacked in a Morrisons car park by a little Pesci of a man and put up very little resistance at first assuming he must have been carrying a weapon to exhibit so much bravado. It turned out he actually had a bunch of mates in a nearby car only too happy to join in the fight once he'd thrown the sucker punch. Weird fight that was - totally unprovoked - it was like bumping into an old fashioned troll and being told you had to take a few lumps if you wanted to get by to your house. First time I've ever been fly kicked too. I do miss Stratford...

Stratford is nice.

Stratford is nice.

Of course, it's the Olympic City!

Quote: PhQnix @ July 29 2009, 12:58 AM BST

's a little one sided, no?

Exactly.

Yes, showing them your valuables will certainly dissuade them from mugging you.

Yeah, but his phone's a Nokia 8210.

The cruelest of all the playground barbs!

Exactly.

Well Robyn's been working all week so maybe I'll spend my weekend doing all those things for her, help her relax and stuff. Pleased

(That's meant to be nice rather than dodgy. Errr)

Then by all means stick with it. Why not play it really safe and stroll about with a laptop and an iPod too? A Rolex and some gold jewellery would certainly complete the look. That ought to let them know you're in no mood for being mugged.

To respond to this properly, I think it's about confidence. If you scurry past or show fear, no matter how much you might actually feel, people are more likely to hassle you. If you look like you couldn't give two hoots about their presence, you're more likely to be left alone.

(The same is true of these message boards!)

That couldn't have sounded more dodgy if you put a wink on the end of that sentence.

Plotting the course for the big drive I'm making in about 10 days. I'll be helping my ex drive from Florida to Oklahoma. Three days, six states, 1400 miles, a cat and a dog.

Here's the route:

You on the dog, her on the cat? Eh?

I love it when you get all rational.

Cheeky bastard! I'll get rational on your ass one of these days!

Wow, lots of changes. I go to bed, take my youngest to the dentist, and come back to find people missing. Kinda cool.

:D No, we're driving a car. A Jaguar to be exact. That should make you guys happy.

You'd be surprised...

Sounds like a fun road trip I've always wanted to drive coast to coast.

I love how Google suggests it'll take 20 hours but really even if you did drive none stop it would easily take about 2 days with traffic! The reason half you guys drive automatics.
