The Saw Ride at Thorpe Park

Caught the advert for this tonight during Charlie Brooker Telly Thing and it came as a bit of a surprise.

Family fun day roller coasters are now being named after 'torture porn' horror films.

A bit of harmless product placement or a damning indictment of society? Put on your best Daily Mail voices and spill your brain filled opinons please.

I went on that!

Did you murder loads of people aftewards?

You amaze me!

It is a decent ride at a theme park now aimed at 'teenagers' and 'adults' so no, I don't think it's damning indictment of society. If families want rides, they should go to Chessington.

Do Stealth, Colossus, Nemesis etc look like family rides!

Well yeah, they do look like family rides, I've been on roller coasters since I was a kiddie winkie.

I'm not having a go at the ride, but the bizarre choice of branding. I wouldn't expect to go to Euro Disney and line up for the 'Hills Have Eyes Mutant Rape Teacup Ride'.

Where's Lee Henman when you need him?

OK. Maybe: http://www.thorpeparkguide.com/parktour/canadacreek/photos/rockyexpress2.jpg

I'm finished now so... carry on.

Well, yeah point made but you see my point about Thorpe Park not being a family park anymore. :)

Yes, I noticed that too. Weird.

Not because of the rides. Just the fact that, as you say, the theme's they use are not family-like. They aiming for the 'horrible stabbing teenagers who like blood'.

How old were you on your first 'big ride'?

I was six on the Pepsi Max Big One at Blackpool. :)

Thorpe Park - a fun day out for gangs of Chavs!

How old were you on your first 'big ride'?

I was 13 when I went on the Rebel Yell and the Grizzly at Kings Dominion, Virginia.

Blimey! You must have been tall, they don't let little people on the rides.

:D :D :D :D Yes. Whistling nnocently

I was tall. That was back in 1999. Besides you only have to be 132cm for it. I was obviously tall enough back then but I wasn't the 6ft 5in that I am now.

You want thrills? Try driving a car on 'B' roads in Norfolk.

Warning for all you guys, don't try the

"Saw bottom ride at Jeremy Thorpe park."

It's not very exciting.

Thorpe Park is fun.
