Don Rushmore Leaves The BCG Page 18

There's a world of difference between an amusing or witty remark in any-old-thread, and a planned and considered scripted piece of writing as might be posted in Critique, or even - God forbid - submitted to a production company. :)

That's all right then. (But only because I don't post in Critique).

I will let others vent thier ire towards your critical observations or in the words of blackdahlia1 :) ;) :D :$ Angry Cool Wave

And don't go on about "telling people how it is", because I think they're (almost all) shit, unfunny writers too.

Seeing as you apparently think that about every comedy writer who didn't do their apprenticeship with the Black and White Minstrels, I don't feel too hurt...

The Simon Cowell of the BCG if you like...

Curiously in context you appear not have intended this as the most scathing insult imaginable.

Timbo, I sent you a PM a few months back, praising one of your sketches.

Do you remember?

Yes I recall, and I was grateful for your kind words. I have stayed out of this thread, as I do all others in which BSG members enter into personal exchanges. I was just curious how Scotti could possibly imagine that comparing someone to Simon Cowell was a compliment.

I'm firmly with Renegade on this one. I don't post in critique anymore. When I did I offered my opinion on other efforts. Good bad or indifferent. I don't post in critique anymore so I don't comment. Sometimes I read. My point is if you criticise other people (even in a general sense) for the standard of their work then firstly could you do any better yourself? Secondly if so prove it. Thirdly as one of the founders of this site you are criticising people who are keeping a section of your site healthy and vibrant! Standard variable agreed. But being so general about your critcism is going to get the very people who help keep this site healthy pissed off!

I don't post in critique because I don't want to dismiss anyone's work. It's not in my nature.

You don't have to post in critique and 'critique' others work if you don't want to. You can just discuss your own stuff with whoever is willing to give an opinion.

Generally the best people in crit are those who offer help or give something a new direction. Some will say it's shit and leave it at that. But they don't usually post themselves. Take Don Rushmore for instance.

It's Aaron's forums. He can do what he bloody well pleases, within the law to which he abides (almost).

Just be grateful he puts so much hard work into it (not that he has anything better to do (except for zooo, of course)).

His comments may grate with you and if they do, you know where to go. It's a testament to him and Mark (and the mods) that there would even be an issue. If you had stumbled upon another website or forum and found its contents disagreeable. You wouldn't give it a second thought to click away.

He's not asking you to stay (although I'm sure Mark would like you to). This is a virtual world. Once you start to attach yourself emotionally, you loose grip.

The amazing thing about the interwebs is the ability to pick and choose what you view.

Make that choice. Coke or Pepsi?

To add to that - the primary purpose of this site is not the critique section nor even the General section (from where I very rarely venture) but the comedy discussions. The fact that the other forums exist is a complete courtesy on the part of the website owners. I think people forget that and this thread is an excellent example of everyone losing sight of what this board and website is really about.

:) Well added PhQnix!

In this thread? There was no critical observation. There was a point made to another user that you don't have to act in a certain slyly aggressive manner in order to express an opinion.

He's f**king right, you bastard.

Ahem.

That's like saying I'm Robert Mugabe. I'm president of Zanu PF. I can do what bloody hell I please. And as for critique is only there as a side show. So what? It's there. It's controversial at times. It's not the only place in the world to do that kind of thing but it is a part of this site.

Aaron with Mark on board I guess built this site for comedy fans. Fare enough. It is also populated by comedy writers real or imagined! If you're going to build in a facility for people to write sketches, don't knock the standard of writing of the people who are in it because believe it or not, bad good or no hoper they're actually trying to make it work.

It probably tortures Aaron to know a feature he's slowly becoming to resent is more popular than the original forum he intended.

I'm sure he'd be more than happy to see it go, and content with just a few members discussing comedy and general topics.

I personally think the writers sections are great on here and glad they can happily co-exist along with the rest of the BCG site.

I'm awfully grateful for it too :)
