I know, I know.
Quote: chipolata @ July 27 2009, 10:13 AM BSTChipolata's just taken his cat to the vet and discovered he no longer has to feed him special urinary-tract-friendly food, which his cat hates!
Cats are particularly prone to renal failure, which causes a lot of them to die (to some extent) unnecessarily. When they get an infection and the vet gives them an expensive shot of antibiotic, the thing that usually saves their life is actually to keep them hydrated and prevent kidney failure, whilst they naturally fight the infection. For some reason, cats don't instinctively do this themselves, perhaps partly because they dehydrate so quickly and get the symptoms of acute renal failure (vomiting and confusion, for example) very quickly. It's worth keeping a spare 50ml synringe if you have a cat, just so you can squirt some water down their throat and keep them hydrated if they suddenly get ill.
Were you a gynecologist, Tim?
Eh? Urinary tract is either genito-urinary surgical or renal medicine. I used to work in a regional renal dialysis and transplant centre though. (Though we didn't treat cats as a rule, I'll give you that.)

I'm a part-time gynaecologist... Well, I like to keep my hand-in.
(An old stand-up gag of mine. Why did I give up?)

Very possibly...
Tim is annoyed, because meeting in London got cancelled this morning. So has to write instead.
