Quote: Robert D @ July 23 2009, 1:20 AM BSTThe park is a bit of a dump at the moment after the owner's of Pleasure Beach Blackpool smashed it up in 2006...
What?! Please elaborate.

Pleasureland was run by BPB.Ltd until 2006 when they shut it down, ripped out all the rides bar one or two small crappy ones and literally smashed the place up (breaking windows, taking sinks from the toilets only to leave them on paths etc).
Dreamstorm took on the site late 2007 and have started a new fair. It's alright but you wouldn't travel miles to go to it. Doing this advert with the selected few (ie. Those who heard about it) will hopefully get the park back up and going thus leading to future investment (and some competition for Pleasure Beach at long last!)

I didn't realise you were talking about Southport. I used to go there all the time when I was a kid.
WBOT? I was filmed (expertly) driving a dumptruck at a prestgious construction development. The footage was top of the regional TV evening news magazine and was repeated as part of the full report during the programme.
That was 34 years ago. In colour.
*anticipates prize for most ancient TV appearance*

Yeah, it was much better back then than it is now but... well, it could improve over the coming years.
Quote: Darren Pomroy @ July 16 2009, 1:53 PM BSTCheers. It was a good time in my life, I got to travel lots and could have made a career out of it but the pull of drinking and sex with random strangers was to much for me.
That's at odds with being a footballer?
Quote: john lucas 101 @ July 16 2009, 1:57 PM BSTYou are waaaaay too cool for this site, Darren! You're like our very own 'The Fonz!.
Yeah if The Fonz was... Ahem. Be nice, Aaron.

A bit of a dump? It looks roughly on par with that Winter Wonderland place!

Bloody flipping norah. That's just disgustingly criminal. Did they get done by the council? Must have breached numerous construction laws with all of that demolition - and the ancient rollercoaster!

There was something about the Thompson family (previous owners) getting into trouble over it but not because of the old coasters getting demolished - the fact live wires were left bare for anyone to walk up and grab hold of - not that you would.
Those pictures I posted were all taken late 2007 so the site isn't quite as bad as that now - not much better though.
When I was about 10 they filmed a 'Game for a Laugh' stunt involving a fake Gorilla in a cage down our road in West Kensington.
A bit later they showed it on Telly & sure enough there we were dancing around in the background like a load of idiots.
I did get Jeremy Beadles Autograph as well, so it wasn't all good.
Telly's very good at making fairly normal people behave like arses. Especially years ago when it was something of a rarity to appear on TV. Now all you've got to do is pop into your local Adult Shop and chances are they'll be doing some sort of f**king documentary that makes you look like a wanker.

It's true.
It was definitely a bigger thing to appear on Telly back in the 1970s & 1980s than it is these days
My friends and I got in the audience of the Ricky Lake show a couple of years ago. We were the only 'non-Americans' there so got totally picked on, oh don't worry, we held our own. I still crap myself when I flick through the 'dodgy-channels' worried I will stumble upon a Ricky Lake re-run. I just pray that prospective employers don't research that thoroughly.
