God forbid, Tim!
My "friend" had no problem acquiring the torrent and serial number. He must have been very lucky.

I use Word. Does that count?
No, that's what a calculator is for.
Off-topic.
The codes didn't work for my friend either. He could only get the demo which is actually rubbish if you want to write anything more than 15 pages long.
If you want to write film scripts get FD if you think it's worth it. Only you can decide.
If you want to write sitcom/drama etc, I wouldn't boither and just use word.
Anybody got any thoughts on a good medium priced classical guitar by the way?

Ideal for Leevil then.

What if you want to write both? Eh, Mark, eh??
...
Oi!

I am guess that 'is' should be an 'if'
It's a tricky one. The last film script I wrote I used FD. The last sitcom script I wrote I used FD and wished I hadn't. I don't like the amount of pages it generates and there were problems editing etc, plus as you say the glitch thing.
What I really need is a stenog to quoute from the great Thoroughly Modern Millie.
get it. have it.
you've got to allow yourself the tools of the trade. cool specially built gizmos and gadgets like FD or MMSW.
they do stuff you'll never need them to like read out your script in a crap robotic voice or have your scene numbers italicised and in bold.
but its part of the fun of doing it. it's like if you're a diver you spend money on a divers watch, if you're into skiing you buy some well top goggles.
if you're into writing get yourself a decent software package and play with it. because you're worth it.
and you can write it off against tax.
and it's another way to procrastinate while you figure everything out
and it is actually easier to write with
and... yeah you can probably do it all with word or celtx or whatever... but it's not the same!! it's just not.
This thread's a bit depressing. Have you guys never heard of 'stylesheets' on word processors?
FD is just a word processor with some pre-prepared styles. You can make them yourself in five seconds, like Matt says. I bet 75% of people who buy FD have already got a word processor. You're just buying another one with a menu feature already activated.
yeah!!!
Yeah, tell us Godot!!
I've been using Celtx since I started writing and have never seen any reason to change. It does everything I need it to, is very easy to use, has a few nifty little features of its own, and above all else it's free!
Quote: Griff @ July 20 2009, 4:37 PM BSTSo how do you make a Word stylesheet give you a dropdown list of all your character names?
I use Nisus not Word. I don't use microsoft software because it's garbage. You can't make the style sheet drop down at the cursor with a list of names, but you can have them in a floating palette and click on them as desired.
I suppose you have to get something extra for your £200 quid.
