Tom Stade = genius

A few months ago I went to Jongleurs in Nottingham and saw a comedian who was clearly a cut above the journeyman crap you often get on those nights - Tom Stade.

Has anyone else had the fortune of catching this guy live? He does a routine about a meat van - he's been mentioned in the McIntyre Roadshow thread below - and has a show at the Fringe coming up. He has some absolutely hilarious gags about Primark and Argos.

If you live in the Midlands, he's in Nottingham in a couple of weeks and I really would urge you to try and catch him if you can, he's brilliant.

I believe he's on Mock The Week tonight. :)

He wasn't very funny on it.

Judging from his performance, I think he must have been the token woman on last night's show.

You've just got to draw attention to the only threads less popular than yours!

Says the man who started a thread for 'Baggage' !

Never heard of the man. Frankly, the last thing the world needs right now is another f**king stand-up comedy "genius". Most of them are risible and forumlaic: and I say this with full confidence, despite never having seen them.

Genius? hardly. he was ok...mediocre. Why do the british always love the canadian/american comedians that suck?

I thought his performance on 'Mock the Week' woeful. He even had to look down at his cheat notes because he couldn't remember the few lines he was spoon fed. He might be brilliant at stand up but I'm afraid was out of his depth on MtW.

Yeah, I saw him a couple of years ago in Edinburgh, he had a good set, quite funny. Don't know about genius though, a term that gets bandied around a bit too much these days. :)

Quite right too. Only myself and Wylie Coyote actually fit the bill.

We like the ones who are funny. Why do Americans always like the ones who suck?

Explain to me then, why Sarah Silverman is so popular among Brits.

Er... she isn't. Not really. She even got booed at her first "big" gig over here, for a woefully short show (and pretty much died at the big Amnesty gig). She had 5 minutes of intense hype in the press, but I don't know anyone who raves about her since. Perhaps her PR people feel it's good publicity to claim that she's popular in the UK?

Her TV show's pretty good.
