It's odd that, as far as I know, there haven't been any obituaries or mentions of his death in the national papers. I would have thought a writer with his credits would have got more coverage.

It takes a hell of a long time for these things to get picked up by the press sometimes. I think there was one earlier this year who didn't get a mention until a month or so after their death.
I'm just glad that ours was so in-depth and well received. Some of the few mentions that have surfaced have been nothing less than shameful.

For someone as successful, continuously in-work, prolific, and with so many credits to his name as Vince Powell, to get THAT from the WGGB, is just shocking. He'd been writing since before they were even established.
*continues to rant to himself*
I guess that because of the Love Thy Neighbour and Mind Your Language credits that some degree of pathetic dissociation might take place within the writing, comedy and media world. Whatever one made of some of his shows (personally I have no problems with them), he was a prolific and talented writer, who contributed positively to the canon of British comedy. He left the world a better place than he found it, giving a lot of people a lot of joy along the way. I hope that his death will get wider notice, so as to remind everyone just what a range of work this man did.
(Didn't know he had written an autobiography, might have to get hold of a copy.)
Easy Speak (agency for after-dinner speakers) still lists him on its website among its speakers available for bookings. http://www.easy-speak.com/files/speakers/s08.htm
It'll have to be a f**king good PA system for that to work.
Maybe he's now only available for seances.
(RIP again.)
What was his best show?

Superb!
Speaking of the obituary, I get the Manchester Evening News every night and Vince was from Manchester and there has been no mention in it whatsoever about his death.

Bless This House, IMO.
And I'm lead to believe that there was an entry in The Times either on Thursday or Friday.

I think I'll give it a try...always looking for something new as everything I like is ending
Well it's from 1971, so depending on your, um, sources, it might not be as easy to get hold of as much other content.
I'll keep that in mind...

Two In Clover for me. His worst - Odd Man Out, shocking stuff.

Worse than Bottle Boys?
I've not seen Bottle Boys, but I can't imagine it being worse.
