Me too. Had to read it for a class on satire and it was the best book of the bunch. "I saw something nasty in the woodshed..."
Anyhoo, back on topic, not sure if it's been mentioned but Brideshead Revisted is worth a shout. As is This Life, although the latter always got on my tits a bit. Can't deny how influential it was, though.

Do you know The Divine Comedy song?
No, I don't.

They did the Father Ted theme tune.
Yes, one of my favourite theme tunes...
As far as another favourite drama, I liked State of Play, which was made into a pretty awful American movie, and for this I apologize.

And Neil Hannon wrote and performed 'My Lovely Horse', of course.
That song was on a cd we listened to on our way to an air show over the weekend. My oldest loved it, so I had to show him the Father Ted episode and now he is a fan. Yay!

I thought the movie wasn't too bad. Russell Crowe's best for quite some time.
Russell Crowe's on a movie rollercoaster, one good, one bad...but I think the show was much better.
Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes for me. And the 1968 series of Sherlock Holmes starring Peter Cushing, such top television. All the surviving episodes of that series can be bought in this box-set:

I love The Green Green Grass. Does that mean you'll quit the site?
