No hard feelings at all, yeah everyone's entitled to their opinion. He's popular because he's good.

In your opinion.
;)

She seems to have been playing old ladies for years, bless her.

Much like Maggie Smith, who was born an old woman.

I just clicked on this thinking it was yet another RIP thread. Thank God it isn't.

Stick around a-while...

I didn't expect Mollie Sugden to die either but at 86... well. And Liz is at 87 now I think.

:D

I think the first thing I saw her in was playing a batty old lady in She-Devil.

She did the Graham Norton show (I think), so I'm sure she could handle Rossie. I never had a grannny, but I would have loved one like her. :)

He's paid well because he's popular.
Just not with me.
Each to his own and all that.
I just think he's a bit 'lowest common denominator', that's all.
No hard feelings.

Ditto, your username is similar to my surname btw

First thing I saw her in was this 80s comedy Valentine Park wasnt bad. Think she also did a Picnic advert as well IIRC

Great show, and I didn't know Liz Smith was in it. Although the naked Julie T. Wallace and a sex mad Tom Baker have probably blotted her from my brain.

That was a traumatic scene.

Liz played Patricia Hodge's character's mum. Julie T Wallace worked as a nurse in an old people's home and made it look like the old lady was incontinent and so she had to live with her daughter and Bobo in the lighthouse. There was a brill bit where she was driving a car around the cliffs pissed.

Did anyone see her being interviewed by Mark Lawson last night? It was very good though quite sad. It seems like she's had quite a lonely life. Apparently, she'd acted on and off for years but only got success at 50 (early Mike Leigh film, apparently). I remember her first from I Didn't Know You Cared - which was superb and I wish they'd repeat it. Umm, Aye, Well...
