The very worst pub in the world ever and the best

Ok everyone loves the pub. It's warm serves beer and pork scratching. A kind of comfortable front room full of alcoholics, women (preferrably) and other good stuff.

But what's the worst pub you've ever visited.

Sootyj's faves.

That one Dorset that's older than Human civilisation and always has scary folk bands.
The Ben Crouch on the rare occaison it's not full of shouting wankers.
The Canal Cafe Theatre, you know why.

Least faves.

The one where the staff were competing for who could smash the most glasses on their heads.
The one where half the customers were in vests and were drinking Tennants Super out of cans.

Well as it was designed to piss off the English it would seem to be very Irish. Those typical Irish pubs are all built in kit form in a factory in Birmingham.

Worst- The Wellington, a pub in my village, such a horrible place.
Best- Won't mention the name in case the landlord's wifes reading, really nice pub and the landlord is always talking about his barmaid's tits.

Details man! Why is the Wellington so horrible? Flatulent dog? Fighty patrons? Hideous gastro pub full of troughing pseuds?

Yes it does have a dog, is empty half the time and don't like the landlady and when full, tends to be full of chavs. The beers no better either.

On a trip to Birmingham with my boss, we had half an hour to find a decent pub near New Street before our train left - a challenge. After backing out of three or four soulless fizz beer emporium, we found a place called The Yard Of Ale, a name that struck us as encouraging. They only served lager. I have never seen my boss so angry, I practically had to drag him out as he threatened them with the trade descriptions act.

The Harp off Trafalgar Square is a no frills spit and saw dust pub that serves a well-kept pint and always has a decent range of guest beers on. What more do you want from a pub?

Does the pub The Harp sell Harp Lager, a very nice Irish lager.

I assume The Harp must have a lager pump, but it likely has cobwebs on it.

I've drunk a yard of ale in that pub! Horrible fizzy stuff in a plastic yard I think I managed under 10 seconds but wasn't the fastest.

There are numerous places on the Perth Road in Dundee where they just want to make it clear that you are not at all welcome unless your shirt cost more than £50, and other place (like the Art Bar), whre anything goes.

Best Pub though, goes to the Balcony on South Ward Road. Good tunes, good beer, and they leave you alone if you want, but there's usually someone you know, there as well. It's like my own little piece of Boston.

There's a pub near Euston station, just behind the Novotel.

The decor, the jukebox and the clientelle haven't changed in 20-30 years. It's literally like an episode of Life on Mars.

But can I big up the Canal Cafe Theatre again! That pub really is ace if pricey especially when it fills up with desperate performers booking the theatre.

Worst pub? Too many to choose from (mainly J D Wetherspoon).

Certainly one of the best is the Blisland Inn, not far from Bodmin. Apparently, the only pub in Cornwall set on a village green. CAMRA pub of the year a few years ago, great food, superb range of well-kept and reasonably priced ales/beers/ciders. Oh, and an eccentric ex-pro wrestler as a landlord. Unforgettable.

The Irish pub at the Europa center in Berlin

Has a rich aroma of puke and chemicals.
Ridiculously expensive and you have to pay to use the toilets, they have some cleaning woman sat outside with a plate collecting 50 cents from everybody who uses the bogs.

Best pub, a little corner pub on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, can't remember the name, a bit pricey but a great night out and tons of action. If you can ignore the 100 year old prostitute sat next to you stroking your arm, telling you you're a very nice boy and trying to convince you it's her first day on the job.

Any pub that serves alcohol at a reasonable price and doesn't have deafening music, surly bouncers, queues at the bar, noisome toilets and excessively violent clientele is ok in my book. The world's best pubs should remain secrets.

The best pub was the Old Leather Bottle in Wimbledon, back in the day. It's a bit rubbish now.

The worst one has probably been blanked from my memory but I have vague memories of someone putting an axe in the pool table and someone else waving a shotgun around.
