David Mitchell or Robert Webb? Page 5

Yeah, I thought it would be fun but it wasn't enjoyable at all and I've not smoked since Thursday. But I do have some morphine-based meds I've pilfered now!

Good girl! That's better. :)

At its best it was brilliantly observed but a lot of the jokes were 'too sitcommy' which sort of jarred with the rest of it and did make it feel a bit crap at times. Also the second series wasn't that great apart from the episode where a guy comes in to try and get them to quit smoking.

But you still have bad teath and smell.

You quote yourself then make this statement? Are making a self-hating statement here? Or just talking about smoking? (In which case, smokers do not necessarily have bad teeth!)

The Smoking Room was mediocre at best. :(

Liar!

Quote: Tim Walker @ July 11 2009, 1:08 PM BST

Well I'd say at its best it was mediocre, so where does that leave us? Errr

It leaves us pitying the foo'!

(That's you, that is.)

Or certain areas of the House Of Commons (hypocritical, self-serving bastards)?

IIRC it's still legal in private members' clubs. Which is what the Palace of Westminster counts as, I guess.

What perhaps peeved me is that it made smokers look like a bunch of narcotically-pacified, shallow, emotionally-labile, anti-social bunch of unattractive gits.

Well they are.

BUT I wouldn't have said that it said that about smokers. Office workers, perhaps. But not specifically smokers on every point there.

The Smoking Room was great, by the way. First series better than the second, and a third more than deserved.

This thread's been going on a bit now. So...is there a winner, or what? And is anybody prepared to tell the loser that they are, indeed, 'The Shit One?'

In the old days, it was very easy to remember which was which - who's Mitchell again? Ah, the fat one. Easy.

But now I'm all confoosed.

He's the one on the left.

My Mum likes Rob Webb a lot, but she absolutely adores David Mitchell.

Case closed. :)

Mac or PC?

Thank the baby J we've got that sorted out!

Mac or PC?

Depends.

It was a clerical error. I meant to quote you.

I think the amount of debate The Smoking Room has generated on this thread means that Robert Webb as the star has helped to create a complex, thought- provoking piece of art hence he is a million times better than David Mitchell whereas David Mitchell is just a competent panelist.
Webb wins.

A good point, well made.

Unfortunately, you're wrong.

Mitchell therefore wins.

Robert Webb is nothing more than a very lucky jobbing actor, in my book.

Olivia Colman wins. :) I think that's fair.
