Speaking of euphemisms

Speaking of euphemisms, as Lee was here https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/14036

Does anyone know what the original non-euphemistic word for a toilet is? I can't think of a word for it that isn't euphemistic.

Toilet - same root as towel
Water closet - clearly a euphemism
Lavatory - means wash room
Loo - the non-windy side of a ship so it's safe to piss off
Convenience - another euphemism
Commode - just French for 'convenience'
Bog - again, a euphemism
Throne - euphemism
Khazi - probably a corruption of the italian for 'house'
Privvy - corruption of 'private'
Bathroom/washroom/restroom etc. - obvious euphemisms

there's bound to be others but I can't really think of a proper name for it that isn't just some sort of euphemism.

Crapper. After it's inventor Thomas Crapper.

Isn't that nonsense though?

Didn't he just take pre-existing inventions and make them worse? Kinda like a Victorian Sinclair?

Shit House.

Yes, his company made crappers but I'm led to believe he didn't invent the flush toilet.

Exactly, crapper called it a W.C. and if it came to be called a crapper after him, then that is just another euphemism.

Why must we have so many threads that revolve around bodily functions!!! Angry

I suppose you're the kind of person who has an Armitage Shanks defication scenario instead of just having a shit.

:D (The Day Today, lovely sketch.)

*defaecation

He seem's to call it a flush down.

Though aparently he did used to call it "the critique"

He created the flush toilet as WE know it but not the first flush toilet. Flush toilets actually date back as far as the romans.

Don't ask me how I know this. I saw it on TV with the grey haired guy talking about it.....

I've always liked the name Latrine.

Definitely a girl's name, in fact I think she's a character on the Wire.
