HA! HA! It's about time someone spoofed that terrible 'Secret Diary Of a Call Girl' (that starred Billy Piper)
That Mitchell And Webb Look - Series 3 Page 12
Quote: Jackson Neil @ July 6 2009, 2:24 PM BSTThey're out of their depth here. It's not even that much better than Horne and Corden.
*spits out tea* Good grief.
I've always loved M&W stuff and I think this is the most consistently high quality series of ...Look. The casino/Bond spoof had me crying and we had to run it back to re-watch several times. I found the Sir Digby/Ginger scenario surprisingly moving. The whole "he's put the letter x" "shouldn't she have put 'a sex'" in-between sketch was also hilarious!
That was a good one tonight. I liked the pen bit, I find myself connecting more and more to Mitchell.
Blimey, last night's show was terrible. Not so much as a titter. I got more laughs reading Critque this morning.
Damn shame, given how strong the first four episodes were.

I tittered twice, but apart from that...
I see there were eight other writers credited. I wonder how much of it is actually written by the stars?
Sub text was good. Rest of it... hmmm...

According to
not very much.

Nice link. But having skimmed it it seems to me that quite a bit is written by them (especially Mitchell). Not a majority, perhaps, but a fair chunk.
This week's episode was a bit weaker than the others I thought. I missed my regular reminder to STAY INDOORS. Still, even a weak episode of this is 10 times better than most BBC Three sketch shows combined, so I'm not exactly complaining.
Episode 5 (out of 6) is traditionally the weakest episode of any sketch show.
In fact, I'm surprised they didn't make a self-reverential sketchlet out of this bit of received "TV comedy wisdom" - in the manner of the 'Hit/Miss' sketch earlier in the series.
Several times whilst watching last night's show, I found myself sadly able to predict the way the sketch was likely to proceed, although I found myself wondering which of several options the writers would choose. For instance, the one where God has another great idea; I wondered for a moment if they were going to be brave enough to have Him decree kiddy fiddling. In the event, human sacrifice seems like a tamer but safer alternative.
The God one was a clumsy sketch especially as it was a nonsense to anyone with a passing knowledge of the Bible. Could have covered much braver territory.
About the funniest thing last night was Mitchell's piece to the audience about them running out of money. This series would have been better with more sketches in front of the audience.
I liked the bits which were entirely unexpected, even if they weren't laugh-out-loud. The relaxation CD /machine-overlords only raised a faint titter from the audience, and I was more surprised than amused, but I'm grateful at least for that surprise.

How's that brave? Career suicide more like! You try it.
That's an utterly repulsive suggestion - I'm completely gobsmacked.
Comedy material from child abuse, yeah, great suggestion. How about some rape jokes? Why stop there? There must be loads of comedy mileage in Auschwitz, 9/11 and extraordinary rendition.
