Writing for Newsjack (aka 7 on 7) Page 60

:D Congrats Jane again! And thanks for the heads up.

Was there a Miles Undercover skit this week? Go on Jane - spoil the show, we don't care! We're only listening to see if our stuff gets on anyway! :P

True - although one of the people I went with tonight was a non writer and she enjoyed it!

No to Miles undercover so apart from Newsbullet which has been on each week I don't think any of their regular feature sketches has featured since the start.

I'm not spoiling punchlines for people but some of the topics covered were

Wimbledon/ Ashes
Big Brother
Facebook/ James Bond
North Korea
The plinth in London (I hope that's spelt correctly)
Erotic celeb fiction
Michael Jackson
Swine flu
Michael McIntyre in a warzone
Bizarre sporting records

The usual 15 ish vox pops (including one which made the audience groan to which Jess replied "I didn't write it!") and 6 ish corrections.

Miles did a bit of stand up (unrecorded) which was funny. Although it seemed wrong somehow when he did rude jokes!

I'm bound to have forgotten some items.

Cheers, Jane.

Ah, so we could all still be in then.

Jane, my sketches were:

1) Wombles moaning about Wimbledon rubbish.
2) Miles phoning BT and BA about their cutbacks.
3) Harry Potter premiere aftershow party.

Plus I sent in a correction about Andy Murray.

And vox pops about:

1) Sir John Sawer's details being taken off Facebook.
2) Self help being bad for you.
3) Alan Duncan hitting out about homophobia.

Ring any bells?

Hope the Facebook/James Bond one is Sooty's.

Yeah, I hope it's Sooty's too. :)

Sorry it wasn't Sooty's. I checked and unfortunately his was one of four Facebook Bond sketches I've now heard about! So who knows how many they received!?

Am awaiting clarification on MJ's now as he has two which might have featured...

I had be in the West End earlier this evening, so while I was up there I took in the recording. The show was very enjoyable, probably because nothing of mine was in.

There was a cracking sketch right at the start that I am sure Jane has not listed, but I can't for the life of me recall what it was about...

The only other one I can think of that Jane has missed was on John Bercow's plans for the Commons.

I still stand a chance then!

No email for me but I only sent some vox pops about swine flu so it could be a hit :)

Anything harry potter/swine flu related recorded Jane?

Hi Tim

I'm sure you're right - I can never remember them all even when they're good!

Normally Miles starts with a phone call but I think they started with Lewis and the 'third' chap* this week - I don't think it was the tennis one but I'm not sure now. I don't want to give the jokes away but it might have been the 'torture' one. And there was a second book/fiction related one. I was disappointed as it wasn't mine and Dan's!

Hi Chris

HP did get mentioned as a one liner I think re the amount of rain. I hope it was yours.

Does anyone know how many sketches they get in every week? Unfortunatley, MJ's were close but not the ones they used.

But I've still had no email so good luck everyone you'll find out soon!

JP

*Sorry I can't remember his name or find it on their site but he's been in a couple of episodes now.

I sent in one awful groaner VP about Mrs Slocombe / Mollie Sugden (in an affectionate and totally obvious gag stylee) Made me groan anyway. So I'll have to listen now.

Any sketch about politicians and the pride march?! Ooh it's exciting. I did a correction about Serena Williams and the longest semi in Wimbledon history but probably bordering on porn...

:) I think that may have been a bit much for them (although there was a bit of 'porn' in there). They didn't mention the pride march at all unfortunately.

In other news, whoever wrote the Michael McIntyre sketch should be very pleased with themselves.

:) :) :)
