Hello! I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to go about getting a deal with a publishing company for a sportsmans autobiography? I have a client who has a great life story to share but I don't know how to get it out there. Thanks for anyone who can help. Q!
write an outline - chapter by chapter breakdown, just a para each
write 1,000 words sample text - a nice anecdote or something
find out who publishes sports autobiographies and approach them.
ideally you would have an agent, but you can do it like this.

Not patrionising at all. Although I won't be writing it, you're correct in the fact that it will be a biography as he will be too busy to write it himself. I suppose, bearing that in mind, how do I go about getting a company interested in employing someone to write his life story! This is not going to be straight forward!
What, no ghost-writing? If your sportsman is famous, it should be easy to find a ghost-writer and publisher.
I suppose he can't write being (presumably) an English sportsman.
There's only one autobiography I've considered writing but it's not very interesting.

I would love to divulge the information but I don't wanna lose my job! Thanks for all the advice, I'm gonna contact a few publishers who specialise in sports biographies and see where it goes from there. Thanks to everyone for their advice and info!
