I tried watching it a few years back and just couldn't get into it so I sold the DVD on ebay. However, last week I started watching it again and now, finally, I'm into it. I started from the 4th season. The Contest was fantastic, George is already one of my favourite sitcom characters. I used to get annoyed by Jerry Seinfeld, but now I think he's great.
Finally, I'm into Seinfeld
I'm out!
It's the greatest sitcom of all time.

Steady.

What? It's true. Well, Seinfeld AND I'm Alan Partridge.
There we go
I need to watch more. The ones I've seen just come over incredibly smug and I think that's what put me off.
I'm going to start from seies 1 and see if I can stand it till the end. Maybe I'll be converted.

Similarly, I think when you start watching successful comedy it can come across as smug because you're already behind in the in-jokes. I loved The Office, but I liked the fact that I watched it from the first episode, which kind of made it mine. If I'd come to it after it had been critically acclaimed or after I'd seen Ricky Gervais' stand up (which is ok, Aaron } I don't think that I'd have viewed the Office in quite the same way

Hah - were you one of the cool kids who liked the new band until everyone else started liking it?

Yup, that was me.
I dreamed of being a cool kid, but knew that I would never be one until the cool kids stopped beating me up. That never happened, but I did learn the art of making myself insignificant.
Score.

See now I feel bad.
I was never a cool kid either, in fact I was a bit of a weird loner, but luckily I was tall for my age (I'm only 5 foot 11 now but have been since I was 13.) I also had a wicked temper so I never got bullied. (Well I did - once - but it ended up in a huge fight at lunchtime which I was suspended for sitting on his back and trying to drown him in the stream.)
My missus was bullied at school mercilessly. I can't listen to her stories because it winds me up so much. I just wish I was there to protect her from those wankers.

Aye, looking back, I was picked on by the rugby players at school I think largely 'cause I was clever and sporty in a definite non-rugby way, yet my mates - who I'd known since we met starting primary school - were the naughty, popular kids. It never really bothered me, because I knew I could stand up for myself (I lost the fights against the hard kids, but in a way which earned me respect from them and everyone else, but that was ok- I know I personally can take a kicking) but I absolutely hated kids that couldn't stand up for themselves being picked on. As a teacher now, bullying is the one thing that genuinely annoys/upsets me. I can deal with it professionally, but if my son experienced bullying I'd find it really hard to transpose my professional aspect to that. Nothing unusual in that, I suppose. Lee, you'd probably send the twat a card called 'Bully him again and I'll rip your face off''....
Did the P.E teacher call any of you George Can't-stands-ya?

I would say don't start at the start, pick up series three or four and watch that. If you still don't like it, kill yourself.
Be a man (a Hen-man) and watch from the start! It's only a few hours of your life wasted, where else would you be, on here?
