Once Upon A Time In Peckham - should it happen? Page 4

Very true...I take back my comment and hide in the corner!

Bring back a 6 part series of OFAH, it might not be as funny but David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are wasting their acting talents getting older. Please bring OFAH back!

"Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Chips, written by Only Fools creator John Sullivan, will start shooting on location in London next month.

The 90-minute comedy drama will centre on the earlier years of the Trotter family, as was previously rumoured, focusing on the relationships between Joan Trotter; Del-boy's useless father Reg; the safe-cracker, Freddie Robdal; and the young Del-boy himself."

That is a terrible title!

Terrible title, bad idea in the first place.

Terrible title, bad idea in the first place.

Yeah. But it's happening.

I'll give it a go, just like I did with The Green Green Grass. And I ended up liking it so well, it is another visit to the OFAH universe afterall.

One of the strengths of OFAH was Sullivan's attention to detail, particularly when it came to the Trotters' backstories, and he clearly has an excellent eye and ear for cockney culture, so in terms of material for characters and storylines, it could be excellent...

...however, what counts is the comedy, and following his recent work, I'm not sure Sullivan has what it takes to recreate the magic that we came to know and love. Boycie and Marlene are one thing, but people have a lot more affection for the Trotters, so expectations may be a little too high.

If it goes ahead, I don't want to see it fail, and I'm not sure how much faith I can put in it.

I'm quite happy to see that it is actually happening. It may be great or it may be terrible but at least it should be interesting to see whether they can pull it off.

As it's a comedy drama, the drama counts just as much as the comedy does and I think Sullivan might be able to manage the pathos ok. In the last episode of Only Fools and Horses there were some bad jokes, but I thought the more serious elements of the story worked well so I have some hope for this.

Which last episode of OFAH? When they won the lottery? Or the pointless and damaging final episodes which followed?

They weren't pointless or damaging. They were just as good IMO. I'm still one of sad gits waiting for another comeback.

The last episode. Shoot me.
:)

Just wanted to clarify. :)

I do think that the episodes after they won the lottery were a massive, massive mistake on Sullivan and the BBC's respective parts. They added nothing, in fact they just took away the worked-for happy ending which was a deserved conclusion.

I was never the biggest OFAH fan, but even I felt cheated and, to an extent, duped.

The stuff with Jonathan Ross was pretty painful, but I've never had any problem with the final eps.

I watched the last episode today. It's good. Has more laughs per minute than a lot of other stuff. Most other stuff, in fact.

I liked the last special, but it wasn't needed. They had already ended the show perfectly, even had them walking off into the sunset.
