Cartoon writing... thoughts?

Lately I've been mulling over writing an adult cartoon... I've been watching kids show 'Chowder' of late (yes I'm allowed as a seven yr old also inhabits my house) and think it's divine... has anyone on here ever had a shot at writing an adult cartoon?

There are lots of examples of cartooning writing and actual cartoons on here. Although, I'm not sure whether you mean serialised cartoons, like The Simpsons or animated shorts (not like Bart's blue pants).

I drew a penis on a history book once, does that count?

:D

I've been thinking though... why are there not more contemporary British adult cartoons out there? America churns them out (very well, I must say) but Blighty seems to have fallen behind. As a writer a cartoon series would be a dream come true - anything can happen in a cartoon and there are no budget restrictions. (I'm slowly talking myself into having a crack at this!)

It must be hard to get the right balance with the British public. There is an audience for all different types of show, but I can't imagine it being mainstream. The Simpsons had to build that reputation before it was excepted.

I think it's probably to do with the amount of time it takes to do, just look at Wallace and Gromit. Whereas U.S. production companies can probably have more people working on it, getting it out quicker.

That's a fair oint but what about all the kid's cartoon series, produced in Britain?

Aren't they generally about 5 minutes per episode? Like Peppa Pig or something. Whistling nnocently

Laughing out loud

Even if they are, the have about 34 episodes in a series.
