Betting on races. Sorry, terrible pun.

Laughing out loud Genuinely didn't get that, but 'Slav' would have worked better (in the joke).

Don't get me started on jockeys Rolling eyes ;) :D

I know. All those horses that have to be shot after injuring themselves jumping over fences so that people can gamble. And poor greyhounds who are abandoned after their racing careers are over.

I grew up in a Race Horsing Village.

Our lives revolved around Race Horsing. I dated a jockey for a while, who's Dad was a trainer. It was a tough world to work in, and until you live and breathe it, difficult to judge.

I personally don't know how the stable lads and lasses put themselves through the gruelling work hours just for the small hope of riding in a race.

Ah, yes I know the area you mean - I used to walk the dogs up there.

My SIL worked with polo ponies and did cross country which ended after a nasty accident. It means she can no longer ride much.

:D 2.5 years... not too bad. He was taller than me.

He was taller than me.

Did he insist on never getting off his horse?

When I used to work at a regional renal unit in Surrey, a group of our regular patients were a family of very rich and successful horse trainers. They were of Romany extraction. Once, when one of them was an in-patient, he was visited by his two brothers. All 3 brothers had the same Christian name, Peter. Thinking this a little odd, I asked (respectfully) if this was some kind of Romany tradition, them all having the same name? Peter '1' leaned forward and whispered (in his very well-spoken voice) "To be perfectly honest, Doc, it's to confuse the Inland Revenue". Country people, country ways...

Er, no. She damaged her back. You need more than a bum to ride horses!

You need a horse, for a start.

You need a horse, for a start.

You can just use one you find in a field.

Kinky.
