Businesses NEVER give you something for nothing!

For instance when you see things like the current spate of SALE 70% off
don't think:

"Wow a bargain",

instead think:

"Wow, they wouldn't sell it for less than they paid so 70% off means that the normal markup is at least 333% "

You expected to borrow money & never pay it back!!!

Good grief! Your pre Uni education was somewhat deficient wasn't it?

Here's a little tip, engrave it on your soul (or sole)

Businesses NEVER give you something for nothing!

I was being a bit tongue in cheek, but you do get so much money thrown at you and I'm very much a live for today kind of person.

www.free-stuff.co.uk

Ok, not exactly for nothing. But it's very rare I've gone on to purchase any of the free product samples I receive, and quite often, never get any follow up spam.

That's just a variant on advertising; encouraging word-of-mouth recommendations, the cost of a free sample to an occasional individual (quantity controlled by the rules of the competitions) is outweighed by the increased sales caused by the advertising.

With respect, I think we probably all realise this. It's sort-of how capitalism works (or doesn't, depending on your point of view).

I very much doubt that the average person thinks it through, however the members of these forums are of above average intelligence.

You're responsible for the 'credit crunch'.

I'm responsible for my own 'end-of-the-month credit crunch', yes.

I'm largely blameless in terms of the worldwide recession.

Kill him! Burn him!

Aw, shucks. Is that the same soundtrack they used for the Pathe newsreel of Hitler re-militarising the Rhineland?

The same audience that Arthur Askey played to, Rob. A drawing-room comedy audience.
