Prince's best album

Been listening to him all morning and God damn he is great.

Obvious answer (well, 1 of 2) but Sign 'o' The Times outdoes the rest of his work overall IMO. It's close with Purple Rain, though. The top tier is completed by Parade and Dirty Mind. Incredible run of albums throughout the 80s.

What say you?

I'd say his best album is one of those ones he made before getting really rubbish.

For me Graffiti Bridge was his last consistently very good album.

His problem is he has no quality control whatsoever. Everything he records, he releases. He doesn't seem capable of differentating the wheat from the chaf, so just puts it all out. Shame, because he was a major talent.

Hmm tough one. I think I'd have to say the 'Best of the Beatles'.

Yeah agree with that. Actually Diamonds and Pearls has some great moments, but since the early 1990s the subsequent stuff has been very patchy.

If only there was some way for once great stars to kickstart their careers and make us forget about recent shit... Whistling nnocently

Like Tony Blair?
Standing down as PM and letting someone make an even bigger f**k up of the job.

My only beef with the guy is that he seems a real dick with his music and how hardcore he is with all that copyright bullshit. Dude, you're well off. Relax.

T'was looking on YouTube for some Prince related stuff recently and every single one of his videos has had the audio ripped as well as him having amateur footage of his concerts taken down.

He'd covered "Creep" by Radiohead at the Coachella Festival and had all the footage ripped down. Thom Yorke told him to put it all back up as it was his song, he didn't....

I was thinking more along the lines of Michael Jackson.

Prince >>>>>>>> peado Michael Jackson.

That's a fight I'd pay to see: Thom Yorke vs. Prince.

I agree too. And although I think he's brilliant I'm not really familiar with any of his albums because they are so patchy. Loads of brilliant songs though.

I think I'd have to go with Purple Rain too.

I used to really like his Batman soundtrack.

I'm not really a fan of all those '80s power ballads. I much prefer him when he's in Funk Mode. As for the Batman soundtrack, I've always thought it's a bit of a mess.
