Yup, assets and direct taxation from the person's wages, should they ever be released. Of course, I believe they earn small amounts from the jobs they do on the inside.

Combined with forcing employers to consider a certain number of places for people who are usually excluded. We should not be hiring around the world because employers won't consider disabled Britains.

Some American prisons (mainly in the south) have large farms where the inmates grow their own food. Our prisons should be as self-sustaining as possible. Want to eat? Grow something. Want to watch television? Crank a generator. Want a pillow? Pluck a chicken.

Thats quite a good idea.
I suppose they would have to have some protin and vitimins as well - but they would be extra.
Or get their familes to send them food.
