Oh dear, if she was offended by Father Ted, I wonder what she'd make of (deliberately offensive) shows like Nathan Barley!
Going back to the changing of names for America - to be fair, in a lot of instances the name isn't changed because Americans are 'thick' (some US sitcoms are actually vastly more sophisticated than our comedies in my opinion - Arrested Development for example), its for reasons of clarity...
e.g. in the case of The Good Life, that name was changed because (if I remember rightly) an American sitcom had used that name just a couple of years previously.
...and I don't blame them for changing the name of Grace & Favour either, I know if I was in the marketing department over there, for purely business reasons, I'd have changed it too... so as to cash in on the popularity of its predecessor.
Straying away from comedy... why did no one think of re-naming The Mentalist before exporting it over here?

Because then I wouldn't be able to snigger every time I see it's on!

Well that's exactly the point - it's assuming that the public are too stupid to realise that the same actors playing the same characters is related to the original show, without it actually having almost the same title.
I'm also reminded of The Peter Principle, which was renamed The Boss.
Any news on further series of Birds Of A Feather on DVD following series one's re-release?
No.

I note your disinterest.
Some interesting new additions from Network, including some more childrens favourites:
The Gaffer, Super Gran, Robert's Robots, and quite bizarrely, the complete Queenie's Castle, which was only released a few months ago by another distributor.
All and more detail here: https://www.comedy.co.uk/shop/coming_soon/
Thanks for the 'Heads Up' Aaron (as we young, upwardly mobile execs say)
I've ordered In Sickness And In Health through the links so wonga should be coming your way !
Woo! Thanks!
And I've ordered The Gaffer in the same way so, cancel the milk (if you get my drift!)
I'm very tempted to order that one myself. *strokes*
Less than eight quid you mad, impetuous fool !
I also clicked on Dear Ladies - The Gala Evenings then my legs buckled somewhat !
Yes, that's ridiculously priced. I've got a review copy lying around here somewhere though. Not as good as Dear Ladies IMO, but still a pretty decent showing if you're into that kind of thing.
Regarding the eight pounds, unfortunately I'm trying to save in order to move in a month or so's time.
Ooo !
Amazon have dispatched In Sickness even though the release date is given as 27 July.
