My life feels in limbo at the moment... Page 3

I just meant 'cos you're so annoying.

;)

The last time I was in London was 2002/2003. I didn't feel menaced. Has it got much more stabby? Or was I not aware of the stabbiness?

You probably just avoided the scummiest areas. Like any sensible person. :)

:)

I agree 100%. One of my closest friends in the world just came back from there after working in Los Angeles for 6 years, because she couldn't take it anymore. She worked in television and had a fantastic future in the works. But she chucked it all because she couldn't stand the people and the fact that the state's economy is in the toilet. Unemployment is very high there right now. Social services are in danger of being slashed and a lot of not-for-profit programs (volunteer work opportunities)are shutting down. I'd just be very careful.

Yes, people will fall all over you because of an accent, but when you have to keep repeating yourself and explaining what a chemist is over and over, you'll see that being the foreigner isn't all what its cracked up to be.

Good Luck.

Los Angeles does not = United States. It's a big country don't'cha know.
Almost every American I've met has been nice...just don't talk politics with them...ever. I was just hanging out with some folks from Louisiana this weekend. They drove up north to do some fishing. We partied with them all night long and everything was going great until one of them made a comment about us being oppressed because of our gun laws. The conversation went downhill after that.

I agree. There are so many great places over here. Yes, and you cannot talk politics, mostly because we don't know what we're talking about and can't form a coherent argument.

At least I'm not boring. :P

Americans and their guns . . . Rolling eyes

Has it got much more stabby? I guess we're stabby in the same way that you're gunny.

Spoken like a true Englishman clinging on to some non-existent nostalgic past. For middle Englanders who enjoy drizzle, have low expectations, no ambition, hate excitement and deplore change, then America is not for them.

Just how long did you live in America? You either have a heightened, idealistic notion of long-term life there, or a warped idea of life here. Or more likely, both. I don't know many Americans who wouldn't jump at the chance to move to Britain.

I'd be more then happy to wave bye-bye to this corrupt third world dictatorship.

Just sounds like something fuelled by stereotype and movies, not reality.

Well I will not deny that the American girls in Love Actually have not fuelled my opinion but when I was there and 90% of the American girls I have met since have all have admitted to loving English men, whether it be the accent or how polite we are.

They obviously have not spent much time in Hackney on a Friday night.

Whether you feel menaced or not depends on your lifestyle. I feel totally relaxed and at home in London. It's the most natural place for me. Knife crime has gone up a bit, but it's almost exclusively blacks killing blacks for entering their "territory" or not showing them "respek". So unless you're a black, drug-dealing gang member with nothing better to do than sit around being a dick, you're in no more danger than anywhere else in the western world.

It's kind of ingrained in their culture and history. When will these people learn that they shouldn't have guns? How are they expected to follow the dictates of their leaders without question? If someone breaks into their home and kills their family, they should just sit quietly and not make a fuss.

As all British people know bears, cougars, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, etc. are like Disney characters and will not harm you ever.

They should appreciate the finer things in life, like being kicked to death by a gang of Chavs.

Americans, what a bunch of idiots. ;)

Yeah, you're quite right, guns are great and we should all have one.

And you quoted it out of context. How unusual. :D

Well I should anyways.
