British Comedy Guide

My life feels in limbo at the moment...

I'm quite new to this site, have only posted about three times so far. Mainly in critique. I've noticed that some people use this site as not only an area to discuss all things comedy, but also for advice on different matters.

I hope you don't mind if I do the same.

Basically, I'm going away to California for two months in September. As you can imagine, I'm very excited about this. However, at the moment I have no job, they seem very hard to come by. Also, I'm having a hard time getting over a girl I had been seeing.

I just feel in limbo until September. Who is going to employ somebody whose leaving after only a couple/few months? Also, I would like to meet somebody else female wise but feel in limbo with that too as I don't want to meet someone, and then have to go away for two months. I'm at a point where I want a relationship, not just a girl to see every now and again. I spend a lot of my time writing, but I have too much time. Having too much time also doesn't help with regards to the girl I was seeing, I keep thinking about her. I need to stop this.

If anyone has any ideas/guidance advice, I would be very grateful and more than willing to listen. Thank you.

September's not far away. And you should be able to get a job, even if it's just one of the shitty ones that are best suited to asylum seekers. Failing that, try volunteering. It can be a great way to meet people - including girls - and will look good on your CV.

Also, don't come on too heavy with girls, saying you want a relationship etc. That's a no-no. Lighten up and have fun with women and things might develop from there.

As hard as it may be I do not think any relationship is worth dwelling over, especially if you're heading to California, they breed the sexiest women in the world there and everyone of them is hard up for English men.

In terms of things to do, write!! I can only wish I had two months of freedom to pour into my passion. If writing is not it then learn a new language or a new skill. There is nothing worse than wasting days.

While you're in California don't stick to the cities - American cities are souless bags of shite (with one exception). See Yosemite, the redwoods, and if you cross the Sierras have a look at Death Valley. My most favourite place on earth.

I echo Chip, learn something new, develop a skill, volunteer, no time is wasted. Re: relationships. Don't live with someone else until you can live with yourself and be happy.
:)

I would like to add something however you have got some of the most well thought, insightful advice above, agree with all comments.

Too true. Yanks are very body conscious, especially Californians, so spend the next couple of months hitting the gym and getting buff. It will boost your self confidence and you'll get the benefit chick-wise when you get to Cali.

Once there, meet and marry an American girl and get out of this toilet of a country.

Yeah, just watch them from a distance for a few months and record their every move on an internet comedy forum. ;)

It is a shame they are so body conscious otherwise I might stand a chance.

What a great idea for a blog. City folk spotting.

That's not the only reason you're not in with a shout. Pleased

For once, chip is correct. And have you thought about night classes, learn something new?

Errr Have you been to California, Darren?

Errr Have you been to California, Darren?

Yes twice actually. Why?

As ever, chip is correct.

What makes you think America's any better...?

America definitely isn't better than Blighty. Canada always strikes me as quite nice, providing you don't interact with the locals.
