Twitter to the rescue

We are in a basement in Tehran.

Four students are gathered round a table littered with maps and drink cans.

They are all very serious.

Outside, the sound of rioting.

LEADER: OK. The phones are down, they've closed down the TV station and banned
all the bloggers. BUT...we still have Twitter! So, what's the latest?

STUDENT1: There are crowds massing at Freedom Square!

STUDENT2: The government buildings are swarming with soldiers!

STUDENT3: Oohh! Stephen Fry is having a shit...

Everyone brightens up.

LEADER: I've always liked him. Very clever man...anything there about Johnathon Ross?

A tear gas cannister smashes through the window, but they're all too engrossed to notice.

Superb. Love the idea they're distracted by celeb minutia.

I quite like that, it's snappy and to the point, (like this reply).

That's excelent the whole idea in a few lines and it's all show and no tell.

Nice one.
Made me laugh.

Good stuff.

Thanks.
Don't normally do topical - but this just struck me as funny.

Brilliant. Clever and very funny.

Very funny! Good laugh out of it

As it's dialogue-based and the situation can be described with sound effects, would be very good for radio too.

I enjoyed it... I imagined Mitchell and Webb doing it dressed as Iranian people..

I think that's a good compliment!

Good stuff. Newsjack?

Good stuff. Newsjack?

I'm really not up on how to submit to some of these guys [Newsjack, NewsRevue, treson etc]...all help in that direction gratefully recieved!

Glad it appealed.

Larry

Well, it's been re-written for radio and sent off to Newsjack.

What happens next? Do they get in touch?

If you're lucky!

They get 1000's every week.

But it is pretty good. You might stand a good chance.

So, champagne on ice - unopened.
Thanks for the support.
