All I meant was that this followed the same formula as LOG but less successfully. It's so easy to make up bizarre characters like this. I could ask any of my writing colleagues to come up with ten characters like these and it wouldn't take them more than an hour tops.
Not enough jokes to make it worth the effort and the 'cash in hand' gag was shameful.
I used to be a fan. I've worked with some of the Gents. I like them. I think this is weak.
And Lee, we also work together, so if you'd like to give me a lesson in the correct usage of the phrase 'done to death' I'll be very happy to listen.
When you said the show was predictable I assumed it was the plot you were referring to, which plainly isn't predictable, so sorry for any confusion.
I hear "done to death" a lot and I couldn't really get where you were coming from saying that incestuous characters have been done to death. I can't think of a single instance, that's all. If you're talking about the same type of dark characters being done before in TLOG then yes, of course I agree with that. But I can't really see Shearsmith and Pemberton ever writing the new Good Life...as you know they're huge horror fans and it's obviously in their blood.
I don't think it's as good as TLOG...yet. There's still time for it to bed in though, surely.
No need to get annoyed, it's just a conflicting opinion. I may be wrong, it's happened before!
We've worked together? On what?
PS: The cash in hand gag was a bit corny I'll admit.
