I bet poor spelling brings you close to tears though.
Quote: David Bussell @ June 17 2009, 11:29 AM BSTThere's a terribly sad ending to a Futurama episode - the one where Fry is trying to bring his dog back from the dead.
I was going to mention this one too. I bawl my eyes out at that episode every time. I'm crying for Fry, for that bond between man and his dog, and also for all my little 'uns that have gone away.
But they've since filled in the dog's backstory (or frontstory) in Bender's Big Score. The dog lived a happy life with Fry, who'd returned to the past. Yay.
See I won't watch stuff where animals will come to harm or die. It's too traumatic for me.
Only thing brought me close to crying was new Friday 13th. I'll never get that time back....Gutting.
Literally.
It may be because I was drunk, but the end of Run, Fatboy, Run really broke me up. In hindsight, I think it was because of seeing whats-his-face's ass for the second time.
But seriously, I think it's cuz I did the single mom thing for a while.
Don't normally go for sentimental crap. I'm too much of a cynic.

For me, pretty much the most insulting film made about the Holocaust.
Elf.
When it looked like Santa wasn't going to make it. Like he would be machine gunned out of his sleigh. Dark times, my friend. Dark F**king times.
Isn't Merlot great? Yes, it is.
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Especially when I watch it by myself on Valentine's Day.

Just wondering why you feel that?

It implies that Jews (such as my relatives) went without any sort of struggle or fight to the gas chambers. Almost like docile cattle. I know that it not what the film intends, but the idea of making a game out of waiting for death (even if it is to "protect" the innocence of your child) is not only a pretty sick idea, but it is a slur on the brutal reality and the stark awareness of Jews (and other hated groups) of all ages who died in these places.
Anyway, back to weepy movies...
Shadowlands, one of Debra's best deaths.

Interesting. I never saw it like that. I thought deluding the child was a great act of survival. I don't know how people behaved in those circumstances, but I wonder if many behaved like most people do in other life-threatening situations - in a sort of apathetic shock, wating to be told what to do etc, ?
The Counterfeiters is a fantastic and powerful concentration camp film - and a bit of a weepy.

Acadamy Awards are given anymore to any ole piece of crap. I suppose you would rather see the graphic torture, rape and horrific killing that was the Holocaust.

Don't watch sappy girl movies by yourself on Valentine's Day.
There's a Christopher Plummer movie called Souvenir. Not a insulting Holocaust movie, but it does has to do with Nazis during the war.
