Well, at least I tried, even if I don't get on the show. I think I'll try some gags rather than sketches for next week's show.

I had a similar idea where it was his missus sending off on these dangerous jobs because she wasn't allowed to batter him any more.
I doubt that all that much of the show is written by the public. RFTP had about 60% new writer sketches in and apparently that was a bit of a first for radio.
I think if you get one sketch on the whole series, that's probably a good result and gets your name in front of another producer who might remember it at some point in the future.
Having said that, I'm in the middle of writing a sketch they're definitely going to use.
Apparently one or more of my corrections were recorded last night, which is rather a pleasant surprise. Of course I now have to wait to see if anything makes the final edit.
Well done. And good luck!

Thank you, but I assume they recorded a ton of that sort of thing, so the chances of being cut are probably pretty high.
I'm wondering if any of my stuff was used?
Didn't send anything in, but it's worth asking, surely?
I just heard I had a vox pop recorded, so fingers crossed it makes the cut.
Did they e mail you to let you know?
Well done, John!

Yes.
Well Done Matthew & John
Fingers crossed they make the final edit.
That's really helpful that they're e-mailing people to let them know that something was recorded, even if it isn't eventually used, as we have an idea then for things that nearly made it vs those we sent in that were filed straight in the bin. Mind you, I think I'd rather find out about "cut" ones after the fact rather than get my hopes up and then listen to the show only to find out that it was deemed surplus to requirements...
Quote: ContainsNuts @ June 18 2009, 3:03 PM BSTHi Jane, did one of the sketches have the word 'the' in it? I definitely think I wrote that in one of mine.
That was you? Genius!
Well done Matthew and John. They recorded three batches of Vox Pops but only a few corrections so you're in with a good shot there!

I sent in three sketches over a week ago as all of them were generic sketches with longer shelf lives.
... such as Facebook Street, (an excerpt of a new soap opera taking the world by storm, reviewed by Miles) Coffee Shop (a cultural sketch about modern coffee shops) and In The Chair (where Miles interviews Lembit Opik)
Then on Tuesday, I sent in a last minute word doc of headlines/vox pops.
