I haven't read anyone elses response so this may have come up already but what you simply must ask is this:
1. Does your girlfriend know that you don't want children? It's important as it effectively split up my now wife and her previous boyfriend as he didn't want any. It worked out for me obviously but the point is is that there is no compromise in children.
2. How will you feel when you see the child? Whatever your feelings now, nothing prepares you for parenthood and you have no idea what your feelings will be especially if you would be playing no part in bringing the child up. A child should have a father.
3. How will it affect your relationship with your friend if it doesn't work out? How will she be if you say 'yes' and how will she be if you say 'no'? You have to be crystal clear in what is expected. Also, how will affect your relationship with your girlfriend whether she knows about it or not?
You will be making this woman very happy and that's wonderful but there are so many variables that you cannot be certain about. You should think long and hard before agreeing to do this but trust that whatever decision you make is for the right reasons.
