4Laughs alternative? Page 5

Typical, I decide to go to 4Laughs to see what competitions they have and they have absolutely none! A competition website without competitions?! Brilliant!

And if you talk a while long you'll notice a post in the editors blog, saying they are currently re-inveting the site and competitions will return in the Autumn, so fret not.

Store you comedy up like a squirrel would his nuts, then unleash them when the time is right. perhaps not so much like a squirrel as I believe they go more for eating their stored nuts rather than pelting them at people, which to me is a missed opportunity.

Yeah I read that, but it is still typical of my experience with them. Don't get me on to nuts. Sometimes I just start naming nuts for fun: hazelnut, peanut... Oh no that's someone else's hobby.

You know the peanut, is actually really called a p-nut.

Scientists working in a lab in Leicester the seventies to produce a new type of pub snack to take on the might of the pock scratchings went through several prototypes, labelling them each with a unique alphabetic character.

The lab recently resumed it project searching for a truly non-allergenic nut, which will hopefully be the q-nut.

For now at least I am putting this project on hold.

Any ideas or thoughts for the future, please post them here or http://www.leevil.co.uk/forums/Blah.pl

Thanks.

The q-nut project is on hold? A thousand nut-allergy sufferers cry out.

p-nut = peanut.

q-nut = cuenut or queuenut?

Here's an alternative to 4Laughs... http://www.constantcomedy.com/

It was launched today by former Channel 4 commissioning editor Phil Morrow.

Looks like it is more for stand-up artists and doesn't have any rewards for winning other than exposure but could be another way to gather some interest in what you're producing. I see they've got some fairly well known people like Steve Furst to agree to join in.
