I need/want a job, What more can I do?

I left my last job at the end of January. I didn't enjoy it anymore and hated going in to work in the morning. I spent the next two months applying for jobs without success. I was invited to go back to my old job on a two day emergency cover back in March. I think they hoped this would tempt me back, but I still hated it. I didn't go back.

Now it's 15th June and I still have nothing. I've done the odd days work here and there for promotional agencies etc. Good pay, but it's not regular work. I DON'T claim job seekers. I just don't want to.

I apply for jobs, I never here back. I'm registered with recruitment agencies. I'm not sure what more I can do. I sell on eBay which helps with money, but I just need to get out of the house.

My main goal, like many others on here, is to be a writer. However, after five months of sitting at home writing, it becomes a bit stale after a while.

What more can I do?

Firstly, you're entitled to Jobseekers so claim it. And they might be able to offer you help. Plus it's good material meeting with the other flotsam and jetsom of society.

Secondly, if you're not hearing back from anyone you apply to then something is wrong with your applications. Your CV and covering letter clearly needs work.

I used to work in recruitment and have a friend who owns his own agency, he could perhaps help?

I'm based in Norfolk. Is that too far out for your friend, Darren?

You know you've hit rock bottom when Darren's your best hope. ;)

Why would you not claim Jobseekers? You pay your taxes, claim some back! You owe the government nothing.

Try doing volunteer work. It's often a nice way to get your foot in the door, if any jobs do come up and is also quite rewarding.

You can't claim jobseeker here unless you've been laid off by your employer.

Err I am not 100% sure, he deals with stuff all over the UK. Your best bet is to send him you CV and he'll give you a call and see what you can do from there. Il let him know that you are gonna send it?

Would that work for you?

Claim JSA even if you give the whole lot to charuty (which you shoudln't it's your taxes coming back to you). But not claiming JSA can make employers wander if you were in prison or a psyciatric hospital. Holes are pretty lethal on your CV.

Otherwise my standard answer try something diferent or do something voluntary. I'm currently partially employed (hopefully for not much longer) and I'm taking the oportunity to become a mental health advocate and train with the CAB.

And again claim your JSA unless you're living at home it'd be a shame to total your savings.

By guiding you mean picking it up out of the water and having sex with the little whole a bug made near the stem right?

You're suggesting he becomes a mugger?
