Break ups

Has anyone found themselves in a writing partnership that started well however you found yourself in a place were you got on each others tits? Where they just don't get what your trying to achieve and ego's got involved and it gets very messy.

What happens to the work? If you still believe there is a great idea in there can you go ahead and work on it alone?

It's just a friend of mine er.. Tim said he was having this problem lately and wondered if anyone else had and how they delt with it?

I always like the idea of writing partnerships, but quickly regret them as-soon-as something doesn't go my way. I'm a control freak.

If it's a great idea and you're sure, buy him out; flash £20 in front of his face and make him sign a contract/release. Sleep with his sister, and never speak to him again.

If it's going to get too messy, dump the project. I'm guessing you don't plan on being a one hit wonder, so just come up with something new (or altar the project enough, so he doesn't recognise it).

I'll keep that in mind for the future. ;)

:D

I think the life of a stand up is a lot easier if they're part of a double act, as they don't have to face the dreaded lonliness that so many comedians talk about. Unfortunately, most modern double-act comedy is shit, so it's a double-edged sword. As for sitcom writing, again, partners take away the lonliness, but I can imagine it comes with lots of disagreements and arguing.

My writing partner doesn't have a sister, but he has got a brother. Does this mean that I should....oh. :O

Sound advice Lee I'll tell Tim

Thanks

I wouldn't mind the idea of a writing partner as long as I never had to sit in the same room as them.

Little-known fact about Daddy Maz's Avatar: the guy with the blonde streak in his hair, behind MR.T, was a well-known Breakdancer, or B-boy, back in the '80s, appearing in quite a few of the films that cashed in on the massive breakdance craze of the time. After the craze died, he got involved in drug-dealing, and was eventually busted by police, when in posession of a substantial amount of illegal drugs. Subsequently, he was given quite a hefty sentence, but, the story goes, he was so scared of going to jail, that he kidded the authorities into believing he was mad, and, just like Jack Nicholson, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, did his sentence in an Asylum. In fact, I think he's still there. Anyway...

You got all that from his avatar?

The force is strong with this one, Yoda.

I only picked that avitar because of the obscure back story involving peep's you've never heard of, Thanks catskills for ruining my flow!

The black shirtless T worn by Mr T was also in a episode of my 2 dads in 1993 so I thought I'd get that in before that side story was exposed too!

I've seen that Avatar loads of times, on different forums over the last few years, and, as I'm a bit of a Hip hop anorak, I think of that story every time. The guy used to call himself OzRock, and he was the first person from New York to introduce breakdancing to the West Coast and Hollywood, in the early '80s.
