Those Collings & Herrin Podcasts

I have just about finished listening to the first sixty-six of these and have come to the conclusion that the real star is not Richard Herring but Andrew Collins.

This is not necessarily a revelation to me; I must own to a bit of previous when it comes to my admiration of Mr Collins, ever since I first saw him on Telly Addicts. His subsequent career has rarely failed to delight.

To me, Richard Herring relies overmuch on his languid persona and spends too much time harking back at past glories. Mr Collins might be better advised to ditch his partner in favour of someone who at least is prepared to make an effort. Like Peter Kay with Jim Bowen, maybe he could rehabilitate an out-of-fashion comic - why not Norman Pace?

Bring back Collins & Maconie's Movie Club.

Indeed.

They have a great chemistry. Richard is very much like the naughty schoolkid shouting rude words whereas Collins is the embarrassed Mum trying to steer him into more grown-up topics. I've been listening since the first one and it's always good for a giggle or two. That's good enough for me considering it's free.

I enjoy their live podcasts the most... so very much looking forward to their short run in Edinburgh this summer.

The C&H podcasts could probably provide some sociology students with some interesting research. Not least a study into the weird correlation that exists between the popularity of the podcasts and the amount of times Richard directly calls listeners the C word (both are going up about the same rate!)

Just started getting back into these after a a few months hiatus. Still entertaining and livens up my boring dog-walks no end. Andrew Collins got upset last week and apparently stopped the podcast because of Richard's piss-taking, and they had to do another one. I'd love to know what Richard said to incur the Wrath Of Collings...I think there might've been talk of bumming Andrew's dead grandparents or something? Anyway there's apparently a "safe word" in place now in case Richard goes too far. Which I think is a bit crap, really. The funniest bits are always when Richard pushes it, like repeatedly calling Andrew's Mum a "f**king idiot".

Anyway, off to listen to the latest one.
