Weak characters in great shows Page 2

Although didn't Richard E Grant play a brother? Was he any good, I can't remember?

I don't think so, unless she had two. I'm thinking of the obvious American.

That's not like me not to remember something. ;) Anyway, the one on the right was baaad.

Aw, Robbiieeeeee!

Wasn't there a new character they inroduced in Frasier in Series 10 or so? Can't remember his name but they rather quickly dispensed with him.

Otherwise I would say Damien in Only Fools and Horses and Kochanski in Red Dwarf.

Alternatively, strong characters who was never seen, such as Norm's wife Vera in Cheers, or Frank's Mum in Dad's Army.

The one brother is Anthony Lapaglia, from the Without a Trace. Yes, very awful.

What you say?

I stand corrected. In my defence I never saw the show(s) with her in. I'm pretty certain, however, that Vera was never seen (although was she possibly once heard?) in Cheers.

Like Mrs Mainwaring (as opposed to Mrs Pike and Mrs Fox) and 'Er Indoors?

'Er Indoors was a wonderful character! As was Wonton in Garth Merenghi's Darkplace.

Grandad in OFAH was a weak character to begin with, in the early series when he was more nasty than naive.

The Su Pollard characters in Hi-De-Hi and You Rang M'Lord.

This won't be popular I expect but...

Jonsey in Dad's Army for me became surplus to requirement rather quickly, and as the show progressed through the years his preposterous "Allow me to do a dangerous task even though I'm totally unsuitable Cpt. Mainwaring" antics were just jeffing stupid.

There I've said it and there's me with the entire box set and all. :$

Now someone else has broken the taboo, I'll say Cpl Jones as well.

Others are Colin in Brittas, and Boycie in OFAH (though he still preferable to most of the rest of characters in that bloody spin off.
