History is extremely useful.

And yes Ruby, I too wish I'd left. It's a huge financial drain which has left me with less skills and knowledge - not to mention confidence - than when I started. University was the biggest mistake I've ever made.

Blimey, Aaron. You're only, what, early twenties? Relax: there's plenty of time for you to make much bigger mistakes.

And yeah, History itself is useful. There aren't that many careers it leads into. Hence me being a teacher.

Loads of people dropped out of my degree because they thought it would be so easy. Then they saw it was actually very hard work and legged it.

Quitters.

I thought we took care of undermining your confidence? Now it turns out you've being going elsewhere for that. Angry

*quietly gets less and less excited about university* :P

I really enjoyed it. Don't let others put you off. It's spending the rest of your life paying back going to uni which is the real shitter.

Bugger Uni!

If I do a workshop with college students or teens, I tell them as long as they are willing to work very hard, summer school will be enough and then take regular classes in the field they are interested in. Don't do performing arts degrees unless you intend to teach.

I'm gonna pretend and only read the first half of your reply. :D

Ha. I'm going back this year! So I can't have hated it that much.
I guess you just have to be sure you love the subject and that the course is going to be right for you. (Not that you can always tell that until afterwards...)

What subject are you planning on zooo? And Elliot. I'm assuming Scats is going to do English?

Everyone is different Elliot. I'm sure you will love it.

I LOVED university.

I did (you may call it a Mickey mouse degree) Media Studies.

It's put me in good stead for a great job in the Music Industry and ensured I got great work experience. I want to work in the Media Industry and thanks to my degree I am now doing so.

I worked bloody hard at University and came out with a 2:1.

I also found University helped me in so many ways. I became a lot more confident, no longer being a geek was seen as a bad thing. I could enjoy a great discussion with fellow students and I loved being able to speak my mind for the first time. I made so many friends and many I still keep in touch with. It also helped me become somewhat responsible for the first time with money and having to pay bills etc and budget.

I have not come out with a massive student loan because I worked during Univeristy and thought it was the best 3 years of my life (apart from travelling for a year).

I went to uni and had a great time but on reflection wish I'd gone to a local newspaper as planned and worked my way up from post boy to probably mail boy.

I am glad to see it worked out for someone Ellie! :D

I am planning to do English tooooo Rob.
